Post by hazatude »

GROB, Hansruedi 'Hans' - Passed away peacefully surrounded by family at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton on Thursday, August 4, 2016, in his 87th year.

Beloved husband of almost 59 years to Ursula (nee Schmalz) Grob. Loving father of Lilo (Bernd) Walter, Walter (Florence) Grob, and Robert (Brenda) Grob. Proud Opa to Jesse, Sarah, Jeremy, and Eric. Predeceased by his sister Ruth (Grob) Bretscher, and survived by his brother Kurt Grob.

Hans’ true passion was flying, and he worked in and around airports for more than 55 years. His strong Swiss accent made him well known among air traffic controllers across Canada and was an active member of the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Association (AME). During his retirement, he volunteered with Mission Aviation Fellowship, where he served in a number of countries within Africa.

Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, Hamilton on Tuesday August 9th from 6 - 9pm.

A celebration of his life will be held at Mission Baptist Church, 100 North Oval, Hamilton, on Wednesday August 10th, at 10:30am.

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Mission Aviation Fellowship (mafc.org) or Samaritan’s Purse (samaritanspurse.ca) would be appreciated.
