This was my thinking too. While I admit that it would be really cool to fly a DC-10 out of Miami down to Latin America, I can't afford it!

$110K CAD is about $85K in real dollars- roughly what some Captains are now getting flying Bombardiers and Embraers at some US Regional Airlines. It underscores what an income disparity exists between Canadian and US pilot pay-- Canada is a more expensive country to live in but offers Third-World country wages to pilots.

Seems like a time-builder job or for some < age 65 guy/girl who is looking to make a pre-retirement transition back to Canada after having worked overseas. Or the unemployed or unemployable.

Barry Lapointe has never thought much of pilots.

He knows someone will take it.

I think it's more like $77K in our current tax regime.

Yeah. Lots of people make more than that flying a turboprop. In Canada. For Canadian dollars. I'm glad you guys are calling this the way you see it.

Barry was invited to speak to our senior class in college 25 years ago. While I was pretending to listen to him, all I could focus on was how I probably would never be able to afford the watch he was wearing.

He can cough up more for this stupid chump-job. Don't let him get away with it.

His question to me during an interview (about 1985): "How much money are you making now..., and how much of a pay cut are you willing to take?"

Flightcraft.ca wrote: Tue Nov 28, 2017 5:37 pm KF Aerospace is a well-established Canadian Air Carrier, Engineering & Maintenance Organization and Military Pilot Training Organization with nearly 1000 employees working out of 5 bases across Canada. In operation for almost 50 years, we own and operate a fleet of CV580/CV5800 and DC10-30F aircraft flying air cargo domestically and internationally.

We are seeking for full time DC10 Pilots (Captains and Second Officers) based in YYZ. Training to begin early November 2017.
Early November?

Pretty sure you're website still doesn't work either. Might wanna fix that. Might explain why you had to repost this ad.

You're exactly right there.

From Oct 6:

http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopi ... 4#p1015117

Same ad.

Since they haven't filled the position in 7 weeks, that's a pretty good clue that nobody wants to drive a clapped out -10 around the world at a sinking company for regional pilot or turboprop rates.

Everyone should tell BL to take a leap. That's so far below what the market is paying today.

I take it as a pretty good clue they're about to ask the government for a TFW since no Canadians applied.
