Ws Encore

Post by Saubia »

Good morning

I applied for encore a couple of week ago but no news.

1) Do they still conduct interview?
2) in case you have a succesfull interview, do you know how long it takes for a GS when you reach your 1000h?

Thanks for your help!

They have been hiring classes of approximately 10 people every two weeks. Send an email to recruiting and let them know you are past 1000 hours.

If they don't reply with an interview, well it's a message.

The last few classes have had some higher time applicants, i.e. 3000-5000 hours for FO positions.

Yes, and some are down closer to 1000hrs. Lots come with no time on turbine, or pressurized aircraft either. It goes in waves. Sometimes they have lots of experience, and sometimes very little.

3000-5000hr pilots taking an Encore job is depressing because that's apparently the best that pilot feels they can do. A pilot with that experience should be making a lot more money.

Hardly, I'm in the seat that pays more at the Canadian regional of my choice.

What's depressing is that they are making they move now... there was a Fly Dubai Captain in a recent GS at Jazz. I always wonder why people with 5000 hours finally made the move to a regional. Waited for a call from mainline that never came?

Maybe Jazz offered him a half decent schedule as compared to flying a 737 at a company that apparently likes to switch guys back and forth between day and night shift in a land far away from home, probably with few blocks of days off to get home. Perhaps he is a high quality candidate who is artificially blocked from AC because he doesn't have what AC really feels makes you qualified for an interview....a degree in any old random subject.

I always thought post secondary education was an asset not a hindrance, at least that is my interpretation.

Flydubai has an awful schedule, but that aside coming back to canada is a very disheartening experience. With over 10,000 hours and wide body command many i know have not even been able to get right seat on the Dash. The reverse cockpit gradient of a 50 year old with this experience with a 25 year old with 3k hours can be challenging. Companies don't want to take that chance.

They can't go into any command positions the befits their experience and many have had to drop out of aviation entirely. Some swooped at the chance swoop provided.

It can be a cruel game.
