licensing expiry
Another one for you fine folks.
I see a lot of practice questions about the following, and I don't know the answer and the 704/705 division of the CARs really only mention the PPC must not be expired, but not the consequences OF expiry.
Basically,
I know if a cat 1 medical expires, you can exercise PPL
A holder of an APTL's PPC expires, what position can he/she fly or not fly in that aircraft?
If an instrument rating expires you can act as?
-Pic or co pilot of a large aircraft
-PIC or co pilot less than 5,700 kg
-PIC any aircraft
-co-pilot any aircraft
I would guess the 5700kg answer for that one.
personally my guess for these would be you can basically fall back on PPL aircraft and that's it. I can find the schedules on which they expire, but not what happens after that.
btw, my Aerocourse notes state that a PPC for 705 is semi-annual but I have found nothing that states that in the 705 or 725 section of the CARs. Anyone?

Re: licensing expiry
The consequence of an expired PPC is that you can no longer do any of those things that requires a PPC.
Also - instrument ratings no longer expire.
PPC validity period: 705.113(2)

DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.
Re: licensing expiry
man... I can't believe I didn't see that 7th month one. I was looking for 6 months, semi-annually etc. Thank you.
Didn't realize that about IFR tickets... I got mine 10 years ago and have been flying military since.
Thank you for your help

Re: licensing expiry
I don't really worry too much about it since my company sends me to sim every 6 months.

Re: licensing expiry
Instrument ratings no longer expire? Could you tell me more please? I heard something changed about instrument ratings.
Re: licensing expiry
I could. Or you could read it directly on the TC website:
https://www.tc.gc.ca/en/services/aviati ... 1-005.html
The meat is section 5.0.
By the way, that AC is nearly three years old. How time flies!
