North Atlantic Tracks

Post by NEBOJSA »

I am not a pilot, just love anything about aviation. My question is regarding NAT. Is step climbing in the NAT allowed or not. Usually when tracking past flights, i see altitude change at the end of the track.

Thanks,nebojsa

Yes you can request step climbs on NAT system. Whether you will get cleared for it is another question. ATC would have to be quite sure you are nowhere near other traffic to approve a climb. For flight planning purposes it's usually assumed you will not be able to step climb while oceanic.

Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find in this business
