CATSA vs First Nations Elder

Pretty appalling show by CATSA. ( in my opinion)
Oh my that tobacco, sweetgrass and cedar is dangerous!
CATSA needs to go.. I see no reason why this needed to happen. These medicines are sacred ..
On another unrelated note : I cannot stand going through security and having my food for my pairing rifled through..
Or my phone perused... it’s not on the same level as what this elder went through.
All for the illusion of “ security.”
So much for First Nations equality and sensitivity eh...

Classic Victim Culture - a sign of the times.
This is a non story imho.
This is a non story imho.
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find in this business
Re: CATSA vs First Nations Elder
The non-story here is that some special people can board a plane with a knife because of their beliefs but others get the "royal treatment" because...they are not religious enough?
Common sense has long left the the CATSA building.

Faith healers don’t work in hospitals for the same reason psychics don’t win the lottery. If you want to believe your grass is magical that’s great. But I shouldn’t have to respect it any more than I do the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Re: CATSA vs First Nations Elder
I'd prefer you not disrespect the Pastafarian religion.
Re: CATSA vs First Nations Elder
CATSA vs a Native Elder. A fight between two of the most self right righteous people you can imagine. Would have liked to be on a fly on the wall for that one. One combatant wields the race card while the other counters with the RAIC card.
Re: CATSA vs First Nations Elder
The CATSA goons are always messing with this elders medicinal Tim Hortons coffee and Booster Juice. I feel her pain.

"a residential school survivor from Keeseekoose First Nation in Saskatchewan"
SO WHAT -- CBC.
Everyone has a story. Most of us don't use it in security lines.
What does this have to do with anything in this story or proper security screening procedures?

Re: CATSA vs First Nations Elder
Can't believe I actually read the whole article. She was wearing it instead of putting it in the bin to be X-rayed. And she was given the option to leave with her luggage untouched. Not sure where CATSA was wrong in this case.
I'm also very happy that the article found it necessary to define the genders of the security officers. I thought everyone was equal and gender didn't matter anymore? Now I'm confused.
I should call in sick untill I work through this confusion. Maybe some medicinal herbs will help me.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

This should be printed out on posters in the security screening area!rookiepilot wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 9:23 am

No fan of CATSA here, but my takeaway is these are the people teaching our kids in universities today...
Re: CATSA vs First Nations Elder
Of course, it’s the CBC. They can’t go 3 hours without some sort of sob story about the poor down trodden Indians, er, First Nations, natives, aboriginals, no indigenous I think they’re called now.rookiepilot wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 9:23 am "a residential school survivor from Keeseekoose First Nation in Saskatchewan"
