ATPL logbook question
I'm writing my exams shortly. I have pretty much the bare minimum PIC time for the ATPL but lots of FO time in 703 and 705 machines. One of the requirements is an additional 100 pic x-country or 200 copilot x-country. I have over 2000 hours copilot x-country but no column in my logbook for that; my x-country columns are either PIC or dual. When I submit my logbook will they be able to tell by looking at my routes that all my FO time is x-country or should I use one of the blank columns and turn that into copilot x-country?

I got this reply from a TC lady, a licence specialist, so doesn't hurt to include the x/c in the blank spaces. Will save you some future headache.
Re: ATPL logbook question
I am in a similar pinch.
My issue though is that I only have one extra column for either copilot xc, or picus...
Any idea what should take priority? Or can you somehow show both?

Re: ATPL logbook question
You can change the use of the column. Prove your 200+ Copilot xcountry and then use it for something else.

Use a digital logbook. Make columns to your heart’s content.

Re: ATPL logbook question
I put little post it notes everywhere, with arrows pointing and explaining exactly, no questions were asked, and I was similar to your situation.

This. You can set up Excel to automatically do it for you, too, based on the parameters of the flight. Mine adds time to a "Tailwheel" column for time spent in tailwheels based on aircraft registration. Also totals time on types, and time in specific aircraft (useful at insurance renewal time). Start now, it gets harder to go digital the longer you stay away from it.FishermanIvan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 7:08 pm Use a digital logbook. Make columns to your heart’s content.

I didn't make any special notes in my logbook and I have the same PIC/Dual cross country column. I made sure when I filled out the application form that I removed any dual cross country time from the total I put on the application (Co-pilot cross country). I think the total on the application was about 10 or 15 hours less than the dual cross country column total. I had no issues at all.
Re: ATPL logbook question
It bothers me to hear that from some folks at TC when the requirements are strictly laid out, black and white. Better for who or what? Given that the minimum requirements are met with no errors in calculation, there should be no reason at all why "more is always better" for the issuance of a licence or rating.igorcanuck wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 2:44 pm "please ensure all experience requirements are included, ie. 250 hours PIC, 25 hours PIC night x/c etc. more is always better"

Re: ATPL logbook question
"more is always better" has less to do with transport and more to do with the law of averages. If you need 250 hours PIC and have 1000 hours PIC then 3 out of every 4 hours could be logged incorrectly and you'd still be over the limit. If you need 250 hours and have 250.0001 hours then any mistake disqualifies you. TC now has to scrutinise and make sure you didn't make a single error. I'm not a bureaucratic fan but this is just a numbers game.

I did this as well and had no issues.AnonPilot wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2019 12:04 pm I didn't make any special notes in my logbook and I have the same PIC/Dual cross country column.
