Summary:
Scientists have announced a potential vaccine against SARS-CoV-2, the new coronavirus causing the COVID-19 pandemic. When tested in mice, the vaccine -- delivered through a fingertip-sized patch -- produces antibodies specific to SARS-CoV-2 at quantities thought to be sufficient for neutralizing the virus
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2 ... 144526.htm
An international team led by University of British Columbia researcher Dr. Josef Penninger has found a trial drug that effectively blocks the cellular door SARS-CoV-2 uses to infect its hosts.

Fact is,
75% of all emerging infectious diseases are zoonotic.
This includes SARS-coronavirus, avian flu, ebola, HIV, tuberculosis etc.

Went to the grocery store today. Ended up in a lineup, in the rain, and a bit of wind, at 3 degrees C. Behind an old gent, 6 feet away. And i also am an old gent.
All of us are only trying to do a simple thing, getting food. And all of us are at a high risk of catching something, perhaps not the coronavirus, but something, in the rain, in the wind, at a cold temperature.
The lineup was about 20 minutes. In a quiet suburb. Imagine the lineup in a busy place.
And then, if you catch something, anything, you are refused entry to get food........
Me thinks that the authorities are in panic mode, and we are going to suffer their consequences. Rationality has departed the building.

Re: Corona Virus
So, what is the right course of action then? Are you saying there shouldn't be any measures whatsoever and your shopping experience should be like every other day? The distancing measures have a scientific rationale, and the blanket restrictions have been recommended by experts who are considering the health system limitations. I'm sure you've seen much in your life, but I don't think you were around for the Spanish Flu. Stay safe.

I bet he did. I made the mistake of going to Superstore looking for some yeast. There was no one in the boxes they painted on the sidewalk to line up in for entry but we waited in a line to check out with our eggs. No yeast there though.

One question for the critics of social distancing to flatten the curve --- and their are a lot of them out there -- because it's screwing up their flying hours, or investment portfolios.
One of my friends is an ICU nurse.
Who would trade places with her, and decide daily, who lives and who dies, when the beds fill up and ventilators run out?
