The Trump administration was told long ago how serious this outbreak could be. Trump downplayed it and said it was under control and did not take the necessary steps.

It is funny (but not haha-funny) that the country that calls China unreliable and untrustworthy suddenly supposedly considers data from China as vital to their pandemic response. Please.

Went to the grocery store today. Ended up in a lineup, in the rain, and a bit of wind, at 3 degrees C. Behind an old gent, 6 feet away. And i also am an old gent.
All of us are only trying to do a simple thing, getting food. And all of us are at a high risk of catching something, perhaps not the coronavirus, but something, in the rain, in the wind, at a cold temperature.
The lineup was about 20 minutes. In a quiet suburb. Imagine the lineup in a busy place.
And then, if you catch something, anything, you are refused entry to get food........
Me thinks that the authorities are in panic mode, and we are going to suffer their consequences. Rationality has departed the building.
All of us are only trying to do a simple thing, getting food. And all of us are at a high risk of catching something, perhaps not the coronavirus, but something, in the rain, in the wind, at a cold temperature.

So, what is the right course of action then? Are you saying there shouldn't be any measures whatsoever and your shopping experience should be like every other day? The distancing measures have a scientific rationale, and the blanket restrictions have been recommended by experts who are considering the health system limitations. I'm sure you've seen much in your life, but I don't think you were around for the Spanish Flu. Stay safe.
