Favourite Type
Hey everyone!
I'm curious to see what everyone's favourite type of aircraft they have flown is and why?
I'm a relatively low time flight instructor so I don't have that many types to choose from; however my personal favourite is the Grob G115C. I enjoy it because of the aerobatic capabilities and nothing beats sliding the canopy back while taxiing in after getting cooked by the sun for an hour and half.

L-382 Hercules.
Happened because of a lay-off and I wasn’t excited about it at first for some reason, but ended up loving every second of it.
From Alert to the Dominican Republic, from Vancouver to Bermuda...I had the pleasure of doing some really cool trips with some unbelievable crews. Not sure I’ll ever get to work with a Flight Engineer again- those guys are pros...learned a lot from them as well as some pretty high-time Herc Captains.

Douglas DC6. The epitome of the big Piston airliners with beautifully balanced flight controls and a wonderfully manly low rumble when you set the props to cruise RPM
No automation, so how well the flight went was totally up to crew skill.
The only magenta line was the streak from the hydraulic overboard discharge

Some of my favorite types don't even have an engine

3T with the Garrett. Nice handling aircraft with bags of power. Very controllable on the water.

Piper Arrow. Cheap, fast, stable, and better than any Cessna single I have had the experience flying. Although I will add that there is no graceful way to get out of any Cherokee. Tuck and roll off the wing seems quite effective though.

Nothing like climbing through 40,000’ at 2000fpm and Mach .88 and hearing the airlines ask ATC “what was that that just passed us?”

I like my jets, but nothing will beat the flying in the Beechcraft 1900D for me. That aircraft epitomized handling, balanced power, and performance in and out. Such a great aircraft.

I'm not picky. If I'm in the left seat I'm a happy pilot.
Thumbs up on the Arrow. I was taught to get out by putting my knee on the right seat then levering/rolling my way out. I do the same now in my Musketeer.

No gizmos except the bare VFR package... Just bombing around low and slow over the fields in the summer with the window open and my arm out like a redneck.

Well, I’ve only flown C152, C172 and C177...C177 is my favourite so far.

Flew different type of turboprops for a long time.
Dhc6 is a big one.
The accessible one would be the Piper Cub with the bigger engine!

First place goes to the Falcon 900 EASy II. Holy shit. Absolutely amazing airplane. Second place goes to the Dash 7. That thing was a fucking tank. Loved it!

I was caught off guard how much fun the 19hundie was. "Just a big ugly King Air" were my exact words, then I got my hands on one. When you have to power back in cruise so as not to overspeed you understand just how much jam she has.schnitzel2k3 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 5:33 am ...

I also really loved the C150. Again after teaching on 172's I was bummed to have to go downwards to the 150, but I was immediately impressed by how much fun it was to fly. Sure your ribs touch the students ribs and you'd have to put your arm around them just to fit, but great sportscar like handling, and what fun to spin! I used to climb it to 10 000' and spin it all the way back down, and then do it again.

For basic fun, the Super Cub wins hands down.
For performance, the Lear 25 was a rocket. Too bad about the lousy range and high fuel burn.
