What's your $day$ rate?

Post by matt foley »

I am well aware that pay rates vary wildly as well as how pay is structured.ie hourly, daily, annually, base+bonus etc.
I wonder if an apples to apples comparison could be made by figuring it all down to pay for availability? Eg, I get a base of $100k/yr to fly 50 days and standby another 100 days. I get $50/flight hour also and fly 100 hours hence making my daily rate $700.00. I also receive per diem but don't include this as pay as per CRA guidelines and the definition of.
Anyone else willing to contribute actual data?

Thanks in advance!

For the first time I can say "500" and be totally accurate.

About 350 and 50 per diems.

-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

I think it would depend on the type of flying, aircraft and location, but around 5-700 a day would be about right for a captain, not including meal allowances and other expenses like travel, incurred expenses etc.

Let’s not go there.
This is kind of a meaningless exercise unless you look at the entire compensation package.

Looks like some people are just throwing in a random number.

It would be useful if more info can be included, ie:
Captain or F/O, type of aircraft flown, Type of operation(705,704,703 ...), type of rotation, how many flight hours per month etc...... As you see appropriate.....,,Just make sure you don’t violate the non-disclosure terms of your employment contract.

I made just over $100,000 last year. Divide by the number of days I flew, it's somewhere around $550/day. Now obviously the pay scale is structured quite a bit different than that. Short days with little flying I made less, long days or OT I made significantly more.

Didn't take long for this, like all, thread to get hijacked. He/she asked a simple question and obviously for their need the position or operator is irrelevant or they would have asked. I don't know why I bother.

PS I work about 140 days/year and pull down $140k give or take. So $1000/day.

Those $$$ don’t mean much without a location, the aircraft type, your position in it, sort of flying involved, an idea of your monthly or yearly flying time, etc....

With all your banking informations to make sure you’re not telling porkies
(about your daily rates  )
