TC Medical Processing Times
Curious to know if anyone has any insight in how long it is taking TC to process medicals. Prior to Covid there was a significant backlog of files to review. At present if one has had their medical suspended and is ready to return, how long is the wait?

What region?
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.
Re: TC Medical Processing Times
When I submitted my attestation in early June of 2020, TC Pacific had still not processed my medical from April 2019.
Shortly thereafter, I received a phone call from a TC doctor who was trying to figure out why I was submitting an attestation "without a valid medical on file". After a few minutes of digging, they found my medical from 2019 - and a couple of days later I received the bill for processing.
They're quite far behind...

Re: TC Medical Processing Times
My medical was suspended in November 2019. Thanks to COVID there were major delays getting the tests done to satisfy TC. I had everything complete in July 2020, sent in to TC then. In October 2020 I was told to proceed with a new medical, which I completed on November 3rd, 2020. The CAME was not allowed to sign off my licence, and had to send it off to TC for final approval. I am still waiting 2.5 months later.
Frustrating at the best of times!
Re: TC Medical Processing Times
A friend of mine (in Ontario) had a suspension in March - didn't get his medical reinstated until December, and that was after an intervention by a TC operations inspector.
I was suggesting a complaint to the CPSO against the doctor at TC on a charge of bringing the profession into disrepute (nothing gives doctors the shits like a complaint to their college, and it goes on their permanent transcript and on the CPSO website, even if not upheld) but the issue got resolved, thankfully.

Re: TC Medical Processing Times
Our timelines are roughly the same though my medical was submitted in September of 2020. What adds to the frustration is that TC Medical was already dealing with a major backlog pre-covid. My understanding... under new management. Effecting "changes" to processes under the guise of increased efficiency has rendered the system even less efficient!NotDirty! wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 12:43 pmMy medical was suspended in November 2019. Re: TC Medical Processing Times
My personal experience is approximately a 9 to 10 month processing time (Medical passed with CAME but TC RAMO flagged something and informed me 9.5 months later). Two things are causing delays. Their records staff has been reduced by approximately 90%. In addition, TC was in the midst of changing from paper to electronic records when COVID rolled in.
Any subsequent additional tests or specialist appointments will likely take even longer than pre-COVID, and I know personally of someone with delays of up to 18 months (and still waiting for a medical).
Frustrating for everyone, but especially for pilots that don't have access to short or long-term disability plans at their place of employment.
