Post by Dread Pilot Roberts »

Why are Pilot not front of the line with other "essential workers" for Covid Shots.

I've been back and forth to the states/other places probably 20 times in the last year but you call AHS here in Alberta asking for a shot they say I'm not essential as a Pilot. I usually leave them with "ok but I'm essential when I return to Canada from all over the world and don't need to isolate, I can literally walk over to the pub sit down slam a few pints then hit the Grocery store before I head home and take my kids to school the very next day"

Silence

"thanks for your time"

Just get your Pfizer shot in the US. Most states have no issues giving you the jab. I got one there and will be fully vaccinated before most Canadians get their first shot.

Just remember, when everyone is special: nobody is.

You also have the right to refuse dangerous work if you feel the risk is too high. Good luck!

Please.

Why would anyone think most pilots are essential workers? A handful -- Medevac, sure, some cargo.

Not the hordes flying Mom and Pop to Florida twice a year.

Take off your 2 bar uniform while walking around in the mall, too.

I think a better question is whether anyone other than a pilot thinks pilots deserve to go to the front of the line.

Interesting twist to use the special essential worker status as an argument to cut the vaccination line...

You might be surprised what’s involved in earning two bars; especially in some organizations.

Given that they are crossing borders and their potential to bring infections back, the average thinking non-pilot would most likely want pilots inoculated.

I'm not sure a pilot is qualified to say what the average non-pilot thinks.

It’s all part of the governments illogical throwing of darts with restrictions.

Travel is super dangerous let’s make people go into hotels and quarantine.

We have a bunch of people exempt from this quarantine but we are going to do literally nothing to try and test them or
Mitigate the risk of them coming back by vaccinating them.

Well I would hope that two or three pilots would be able to do simple things like wash their hands unlike the hundreds unwashed masses in the back of the bus.

But maybe not given how many COVID deniers and anti maskers and instances of VD there are among pilots....

Oh God it's terrifying how many absolute fucking morons we have at AC who think vaccines are like Bill Gates mind control or some shit. Believing that should be grounds for dismissal 😂...

Yep, I went to the front of the line. The US decided I’m an essential worker and asked if I would take the jab when I was down there. The healthcare worker thanked me for my service which I was surprised, grateful and thanked her for her hard work and service as well.
Aircrew are performing an essential service. Logistics are complex and essential, take any component away and everything stops.

We are only considered "essential" when we were about to strike here in canuckistan. Remember that.

With the flustercuck that our Governments of all levels are making of this, I've been thinking of heading south for my shots... How much did they cost?

Do you get proof of vaccination when you get the shot(s) in Canada?

It's free. You have to get one in a state that allows non-residents to get vaccinated, however.

you have to select a state that allows non-residents to get vaccinated, but most of them are now. just need a driver's license.

You get a legal-sized piece of paper from the Ontario government at least.

Last I was at the FBO in Eagle, and they asked if I was fully vaxed yet, I said 'No, I'm Canadian'. Their jaws hit the floor when they found out we've been criss-crossing Canada and the U.S and we're still not on the vax radar yet.

Good news, nearly all my passengers and practically everyone I meet on my travels is though....I guess that's good...

Must not have been in Trump country.

And still, though their numbers are improving, the overall US death rate from COVID 19 is still over double what it is in Canada. Maybe that’s why they are so concerned? They can’t afford to get COVID-19 both figuratively and literally.
