SkyService contracting NON-Canadian pilots!!!
Anyone know the reason for SkyService hiring British pilots for their winter operations out of Winnipeg? I guess I can understand if we are doing somekind of exchange, like Flightcraft was. But if we are just hiring them over canadian pilots...then that sucks!! I thought our immigration policies only allowed that sort of thing when there is a shortage of skilled professionals!! Way-to-go Canadian government.

I dont know the exact numbers but Sky sends around 100-120 pilots for 6 months to the UK while the UK sends around 20-30 here for 3-4 months.
Sky has been sending pilots over there for 8 or 9 years while the Uk has only started sending pilots here for the last 3 years.
Salary wise the money is almost the same.
I feel that Canadians are benefitting more from the this.

Interesting how someone can call another while making grammatic errors. Pretty simple to grasp the difference between your and you are.C-MIKE wrote:boeingguy wrote:I dont know the exact numbers but Sky sends around 100-120 pilots for 6 months to the UK while the UK sends around 20-30 here for 3-4 months.

Why don't you tell us what the facts are instead of calling someone an Idiot.
Maybe you should look in the mirror.

Hey Mike, the next time I get the oceanic from Shanwick (after spending the previous day in a UK pub) I'll think of you trying to find a job on the ramp.

The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re a pilot.

Actually it good for the pilots as well. Due to the fact that Sky does most their flying in the winter, they would have to lay off many of their pilots over the summer when the flying is not as heavy. Good way to keep the guys working IMHO. They (Canadian pilots) also make bags of money when they are over in the UK (I won't even mention the "Bird" factor).
BTW is this topic not beaten to death ever winter!!!

I think your numbers are pretty close. We swap crews and airplanes. Keeps the crews working in the slower months. Its a good chance to see lots of Europe. Its a good system I think.boeingguy wrote:I dont know the exact numbers but Sky sends around 100-120 pilots for 6 months to the UK while the UK sends around 20-30 here for 3-4 months.
