North Cariboo Air vs. Nt Air/CMA
Has anyone heard a rumor around the patch that Cariboo is buying out nt air and maybe cma as well? Word is, Cariboo mgmt is set to make a big announcement about something very soon, and some other stirrings are going on about negotiations. Anyway, that is the rumor dujour on the east side of the rocks, should know shortly if this tale is bs, or if it has legs.

Not that I've heard anything even approaching this rumour, but when you consider the 3 (2) companies, a merger would make very good sense.
1. Cariboo is the leading charter company in Alberta with lots of clients in the oil/gas sector not insignificantly the long term contract with CNRL.
2. CMA is the leading tier 3 regional in AB and BC.
3. NT Air is the leading charter company in BC, with almost total control of the turboprop market in YVR.
There is very little overlap between any of the operations. There is considerable type commonality between the 3 operations.
Significant cost savings could be realized by eliminating a few bases.
The CMA Smithers base, which makes virtually zero economic sense and only exists because the owners live there. Ditto for NCA's Ft.St. John base- northern operations could be consolidated at NT's Prince George facility. YYC ops could be consolidated at the beautiful NCA facility, getting out of the rathole that is CMA's current hangar/office space there.
If these were public companies, the shareholders would be all over a merger like this. But since they are private "train sets" in likelihood it won't happen.

What ever happened to Montair's PC12?
Last I heard is that they are only using it for training. can anyone shed any light on them? I've flown on their PC12 before on a charter and it was a great experience, but they seem to have fallen off the corner of the universe on the charter side. who picked up the pacific pilotage charter contract after they finished with it/lost it? I remember that they were going nuts during the summer with it. they also ran sked runs around the province too didn't they?

Most weekday mornings there's a CMA 1900 parked at Cariboo. Maybe they've merged already and we just don't know it yet.
My conspiracy theory is that Coke and Pepsi are owned by the same people and they just run ads back and forth so we don't have time to look at anyone else's soda.

We have temporairly moved over to the old Fedex hangar by Norht Cariboo. Our hangar on the westside of the airport will be getting a new door put on which will take about a month.
