Toronto Aerial Pics

Post by l_reason »

I thought I would share a few shots I took at about 8:00 pm on my way home from CNL3 à CYXU on Monday evening. Nice calm flight home after a long day working. Puts a smile on my face when I think of what I get to do for a living.

Cheers

Thanks
Sorry Miss Mae don’t like to share what kind of camera I use because I take aerials for a living and it’s a competitive business. But I'll share how to get a petty good shot using your camera. Set the shutter speed at 1/800 or faster (sport mode on some cameras) and open the window don’t let your arm touch the door or window frame.

What a load of Bullsh*t.

If you don't like to share what kind of camera you use then perhaps you should learn just a bit more about post processing before you post them.

You have left in the EXIF data that gives all the relevant information. :D

The following info is for your shot of the "Skydome"

Camera: Canon EOS 20D
Serial Numer of Camera: 730400985
Shutter priority mode
Shutter speed: 1/800 sec.
F Number: F4.0
ISO: 400
Focal length: 73mm
Flash not fired.
White Balance: Auto

A guess at the lens: 70-200mm f4L

Nice pics by the way.

Just curious as to how you can find that data out! Just for my own interest nothing more.

With XP, Save the image to the desktop, then right click the image -> properties -> summary.

Little program called Exifer for Windows.

Below is quoted from the website:

"Exifer is a nearly free software (you only should send me a postcard if you're using Exifer frequently) with which you can manage the metadata (EXIF/IPTC) of pictures taken by digital cameras."

Free download here: http://www.exifer.friedemann.info/

It's nice to know that even though I_reason specifically didn't want his equipment to be made public (whether he knew it was or not), I'm glad to see you guys decided to show how computer savy you are and took the initiative to reveal this information. I glad to see we all have each other's backs

What's the name of your business? Ontario based I'm guessing?

Nice shot of the Rogers Center with the roof open. Looks like Blue Jays fans came out in droves to cheer their hometown heroes.

No, but now he doesn't look that smart in front of his friends.

Probably not, but's it's good to know that you lack the maturity to know when to keep your yap shut.

Do you want everyone to be awestruck because you're so SMRT?

I could give a rats ass as to whether you or anyone else on this forum think I'm smart or not.

None of the information I posted is going to identify the individual concerned unless he is stupid enough to be using his real name on this forum.

The OP was stupid enough to make a silly statement about his camera and the fact he didn't want anyone to know what it was. Embarrassed? I don't know, there’s certainly no need to be.

I was just letting him know that if he indeed is trying to be a professional and protect his work then he needs to learn some post processing skills to eliminate the EXIF before he posts his work on the net.

Then none of us would have jobs, or know the work conditions of companies.....

I'll take SierraPoppa's side in the matter, he is a people person.... =)

There is a difference between asking the working conditions of a company and having people offer their opinions and advice, versus posting information after someone has clearly stated that he/she does not want the information to be made public. If I said that I do not want to post my real name (which most of us do not) would you go and try to find it, and then post it. Or would you be mature enough to inform me that there are ways for others to find my name so that I might be able to protect that information?

I don't care whose side you take. The point I'm trying to make is that we should at least try to repsect others request. That is all I have to say on this matter.

Oh for gods sake give me some credit for being at least as smart as you accused me of being.

All I did was post information that he had already, knowingly or unknowingly posted within the pictures.

If he had his name there I would not repeat would not have posted that.

SP you were well within your rights to post what you did...if someone has no idea as to what they are doing that is their fault and not yours. Thanks for the info!

It's not a matter of rights for krys'sakes! Just simple human courtesy.
SP was a dick to post that! People person eh? :? If he wanted to show "him" that he'd posted the EXIF info with the pics, he could have showed "him" in a PM!

I completely agree with Bugz.

SP.... I hope you apologize, and learn... all is not lost. 8)

After spending a long day in the air I logged on to avcanada to find 20 new replies to the pics I posted this morning before work. I thought to my self wow somebody must ether liked the shots or a few people must have posted some of there own. But somehow to my amazement some of the happy folks here at avcanada have managed to spill my beans as to what camera I was using and everything about the photo, how could you have not posted the other relevant information how I took that. Such as: I was talking to Toronto city center tower on 118.2, I was at about 1850’, had an indicated airspeed of 115mph @ 2350RPM, wearing a red shirt, I had just finished my last granola bar and a orange juice box witch was my dinner, the flight time was 3.0 hours witch was my fourth flight of the day it was also the 648th picture I took on Monday. Now with that said if you want to know more I’m sure the guy that spent all day posting sh*t that was non of his business could tell you so send him a PM. On the other hand your right that wont hurt my business one bit but I did say “I don’t like to share” I’m not saying I wont share if you want to know more ask me in a pm.

Sorry I missed all the fun posting I was busy flying and making some $ today. Well I’ll be sure to change any other pictures I post here so that they don’t reflect the info as they did..

Thanks Bugz & Mitch

SierraPoppa take your self away from the computer and go flying if you get to do any of that.

Ok, ok you guys lets face it, we know what type of camera it was and all the details. Don't come down on SP for pointing that information out, he simply posted information that was available to anyone with the know how. I've been playing guitar for over 35 years now and I never hide the fact that I play a Stratocaster and Jazz bass. If someone can do better than me then that's the way it goes but for me not to disclose what type of instrument I play would be silly...silly as a guy trying to hide what type of photo equipment he uses. You can have the best of everything and still be a failure, you need something called talent.

I_reason you should never be secretive about your equipment if you really have talent for taking pics then that will show miles beyond what someone else could do even with the same equipment!

It's like going into a music shop and seeing someone eyeing that high priced guitar in hopes of it making him(or her) a better player. Without the core talent forget it.

Identity has been given up numerous times, mods have posted IP's a dozen of times, and with a detailed search you could narrow someone down...... Secondly, if you don't want people to know who you are, would you think it wise to post racial comments and then state "but please don't come after me????"

Companies have "do not disclose clauses," so those companies are putting their faith in their employees to not disclose such items, and I'm sure they really don't want their employees saying they fly unsafe equipment. So then we have "bad posters here"

and N2 is 100% correct, the plane and the equipment are trivial in the equation.... It's like a computer, or technology if you can't use it properly it's useless, a big paper weight....

There's a lot of amature "pros" out there with fancy new digital cameras that can't even get the basics down (usage of shadows and the basic but rearly used THIRD Rule). I Take an strong interest in photography and I enjoyed viewing your pics. As you know I_reason, You've got nothing to worry about. monkeys with thousand dollar cameras will not take over the photography world. Pro's with old disposible 35mm's can still compete w/ most these days. Just look at that guy from the SI swimsuit issue and his $20 p.o.s. Please don't hesitate to post more. I would if I could only figure that part of this forum out. Anyone ? ?

p.s. Though you didn't square up the CN Tower shot
