That air to air refueling probe sticking outa the front will really expedite things for you too. No need to stop for fuel at the dock, you can fill her up on the way over to Victoria. Probably get an extra 5 round trips a day in that way...

Ya... It's Russian. I'd love to see those in Canada. Its cool alright... An amphib. jet that doesn't use floats. Almost like a boat and aircraft in one.

Here's a video of it's little brother the BE200 waterbomber.
Has the same balanced field length as a 215, carries twice the load of a 415 for roughly the same price 30 million US.
Comes with a 5 screen Honeywell glass cockpit too with the option of
Pratt engines.

To bad there was no movie of its water pickup.

I wonder what its fuel burn would be while water bombing?

Without sponsons on the wingtips, how does it achieve lateral stability early in the takeoff, and not grab a wingtip?

To Cat and Swordfish, if you are talking about the second submission, the BE200 waterbomber, I don't think there is any reference to it being amphib. It looks like it is ground based and gets loaded from a tank. If you're talking about the first submission Swordfish, then I don't know. Unless this is a troll, then good on ya.

How would you guys rate Russian planes overall? I was in class the other day and our professor was talking about the aviation and mentioned that Russian planes are the way to go. I disagree.

Russians have been doing more with less for decades. The ability to change engines within an hour, range, durability and absolutely lethal. If I had the $$$ I'd have an Su-37 parked in CYHM. Ask any pilot around the world what their worst nightmare would be....chances are they'd say a fight with this hottie.

To those who say the Be-200 is amphibious, can someone post a picture of it at rest on the water? I say this because I could theoretically put a scoop on a 152 but that wouldn't make it amphibious.

The airplane will also probally make a great FWSAR platform for the CF on both coasts... good speed, amphibious (if the water is calm enough, land right next and pull the guy onboard), good carrying capacity, and rugged. Fit it with Western avionics (perferably the same layout as in the A310 to have cockpit commonality with the CF's fleet), and fitted with a Western engine (RR BR-715 or PW6000). Beriev would probally be interested in doing this, to attract Western orders.
