What were they flying? What happened? The aircraft filming was on short final and they had to go around? is that what I got from it?

Actually, no; they were doing a low and over, spacing is irrelevant. The instructor's problem with the Snowbirds is the arrogance and superioity complex they frequently display. I won't say all of them, but quite often the first timers and the younger ones can be very hard to take. When I was posted to Comox; we didn't have a problem with the pilots but there weren't too many of us who weren't ready to strangle the Snowbirds groundcrew, for some odd reason they seem to get the superiority complex the worst.

Sounds to me the instructor was just bringing a little levity into the cockpit. Military flight training is stressful with the requirement to constantly perform or get shown the door. A little fun at the Snowbirds expense in the circuit helps out the student a great deal, as does the Kudos for the well flown closed pattern the instructor gave him. It is such a small base the instructor is probably very good friends with several of the team members, and has nothing whatsoever against them.

As the cops say "nothing to see hear folks". Just a little fun.

That's interesting!!! It can be a hectic spot at the best of times, add in a 9 plane form take off and people can get a little edgy. After listening to it a second time, I definitely know the guy flying (not the colour commentator)....that calls for an email!!

I always assumed Snowbird pilots would be a cut above the rest and be extra professional, cool and calm.

Guess I was wrong.

Watching that video will make me think twice before going to a Snowbird shows. Hate to think the guy above the crowd has the emotional self control of some 15 year-old punk kid.

Where did you get the idea that the plane in the air was a snowbird?

The Snowbirds are rolling in three groups of three as these guys are told to do the low and over to their right. Watch the video carefully and you can fainlty see them on the runway. The instructor in the Hawk is the guy venting.

I didn't see any Snowbirds, all I saw was some guy doing a low and over off to the side of a runway. He was cleared for it, so what's with all the swearing?

And if you do a low and over, shouldn't you be over the runway kinda?

I obviously have lost my situational awareness, and need another beer.
