To make us dudes feel old- High school students today, right now, are studying 9/11 as a historic event that happened before they were born.

Watching it live in yxl.

As a positive note, my son was born 3 years ago on the 11th.gives it a happy spin on an otherwise crappy date.

When my alarm went off I listened to the news and was very quickly in WTF?! mode.

I turned on the TV and saw the second plane hit. I figured that the buildings were severely damaged, possibly beyond economic repair.

They were showing some pictures of the Pentagon and abruptly cut back to New York. It took a second to figure out what was wrong with the picture...

I don't think I even want to know how they are "teaching" that.... No doubt using it as a way to get the kids to dance around the flag and take it in the rear from the government at any time and for any reason and without question.

The biggest damage done to America wasn't on 9/11, it was on the changes made to America after that date, the "terrorists" won, they got the US to burn its own constitution and change their way of life based on the actions of a few idiotic religious nut jobs.

Was working up in Fort Nelson.

Went downstairs to get breakfast and heard some yokels talking about terrorism. Got my food and returned to my room in time to see the second bird plough into the second tower. Surreal.

Those Fort Nelson yokels had some pretty good intuition. From what I remember, after the first plane hit, details were very unclear and media was reporting it as an accident.

It wasn't until the second plane hit that it was obviously clear that it was intentional and the linkage to terrorism was made.

I was having breakfast at the airport in Port Aux Choix NFL. And Labrador, listening to the radio when the news of the first aircraft hit the twin towers in NYC, then minutes later the news of the second aircraft hitting the towers came on, I then went into town to watch it on a big screen TV, and viewed the buildings collapsing. Most of the aircraft over the Atlantic ocean were diverted to Gander NFL

Downtown Toronto, been here a couple years. Surreal experience. Decided quickly that wasn't an ideal place to be, as did most working in those high rises. No one knew what might happen next.

I continue to be deeply touched by this event, as it hit my industry so hard. (Finance)

Can't believe its going on 20 years. Remember it like it was yesterday.

Everyone ought to visit the 911 memorial and museum. Its a moving experience.

Sleeping in my bed after a late night return with two sceduled days off. My wife at the time woke me up to witness the news coverage.

I was lucky, I could have easily been scheduled for work and endured the pandemonium of being over the Atlantic and sent all over the place.

The best answer anybody has ever given me to "where were you on 9/11?" remains "Give me a break! I grew up in Northern Ireland."

Love it! Some healthy perspective.

9/11 was a tragic and a large event, but only one of many, many other events far more profound, both before and since. It's been chosen for some reason to be the poster child of such things.

Hate to say it, but mostly because...it happened in the US, to Americans.

I went flying on the day, btw. One of only a couple of medevac flights authorized that day. Was definitely weird, to be pretty much the only aircraft in the province talking to ATC. Ghostly quiet. On takeoff from YYJ we weren't allowed to use runway 09 as it would have pointed our small, fast jet at US airspace...
