It was a great gig to build some time while it lasted.
Re: NACair OPERATIONS HAVE CEASED AT THIS TIME.
I hear that Fast Air in YWG is looking for King Air guys also. I went there off the PC-12 and since I was so awesome, they might consider guys without too much multi. They are one of the best 703 operators out there, and are not just about Northern flying. They don't pay quite as much as Air Bravo, but you won't wish you were dead either.
Re: NACair OPERATIONS HAVE CEASED AT THIS TIME.
I'm sure Georgian wouldn't hesitate either.

Pascan aviation in YHU is probably looking for drivers as well.........
Re: NACair OPERATIONS HAVE CEASED AT THIS TIME.
As one of the guys on the block in this mess, thanks for all the support!! I too feel the worst for the guys that were close to going flying or just started online. We will all be pulling for them. After the dust settles I am sure we will all be fine.
If you're not having fun, you're not doing it right !!
Re: NACair OPERATIONS HAVE CEASED AT THIS TIME.
Sorry to hear the news. I always thought it was rumours about the closing of the doors.
If there's bonds out there, talk to old Skyward guys about getting your money back.
Find a snowmobile, a snowboard and some rope, top it off with 30 Lucky's and you've got yourself some laid off fun. Trust me....

Re: NACair OPERATIONS HAVE CEASED AT THIS TIME.
Unfortunately, we were the victim to a big domino effect. First, we expanded too aggressively in MB. This required hiring a bunch of "green to the north" FOs and upgrading them before they were 100% ready. We had a low time captain doing line indoc on one these green captains, and they crashed a plane. This cost us huge money out of pocket. Wasaya saw blood in the water and dramatically lowered their sked fares in order to sink us even further. After all, they had their fuel tankers/freighters picking up the slack financially. Wasaya also managed to gain access to our Health Canada fares, and continually undercut us to gain that business. By this time our name is mud, and we continually hear rumours of bankruptcy/receivership. Our management finally downsizes the fleet/operation and we start making a small profit again (our load factors were over 60% in Q4 of 2007). Behind the scenes, however, our Board of Directors had already secretly been negotiating with Wasaya, as they seemed to have lost faith in our management. I guess they felt we weren't going in the desired direction, or that our DFO's recent actions were too little too late. This brings us up to now. You can call 1-866-856-6075 to find out the current state of affairs.

For those of you laid off, sorry to hear this but you will find something fast, If you wanna go west, try companies like
CMA, Sunwest, Westwind.
Maybe thunder will be able to buy a new hanger CHEAP!!

To all of those that have been layed off at NAC I am truly sorry. That is a real bummer. I wish everyone the best with respect to finding a new job and I know it's a cliche however, you will land on your feet. There are some wonderful people at NAC and my thoughts are with some of the class guys in this industry such as the Saint. It isn't for everyone and I can only speak for myself however, Jazz is a pretty good gig and they are still hiring like gangbusters. It is only a suggestion however, if you gave them a call they would love guys with your experience level. They get the process rolling quite quickly therefore you wouldn't be out of work that long. Good luck.

Ya, the bank owns it. The bank repo'd the whole fleet and hangar. Thunder Airlines has purchased everything because they've been awarded the dedicated MOH contract. The Thunder hangar has been purchased by Perimeter in preparation for their new routes that go head-to-head with Bearskin. Its all on the front page of the Winnipeg Free Press today.

It's easier to list who isn't hiring in Calgary. Let's see here; Sunwest, Cariboo, Bar X, and Borek all need crews. Take your pick frankie boy... I know it aint Thompson but hey it could be worse. (ie it could be Dedmonton)
Re: NACair OPERATIONS HAVE CEASED AT THIS TIME.
Manitoba Health requires 1500TT and 500MPIC with an ATPL. Some waivers are allowed but you must be close enought of those requirements. In Winnipeg, both SkyNorth Air and Fast Air are looking for King Air captains.
Good Luck to everybody laid off and I hope that you still have your group 1 IFR. I guess that PC12 operators are dying to have a captain with sim already done.

Re: NACair OPERATIONS HAVE CEASED AT THIS TIME.
Its not captains already having sim done for medevac ops here in ON....its "have simcom done, 2000TT, 100 on type and if multi ops - 500MPIC." Very hard to fill given todays industry. I doubt most captains there have 2000 TT......5 I know of is all.

Some people have nothing better to do than yell at others on avcanada. That's why I stopped coming to this site. Grow up.

I would assume this is YQT's airport system three days behind reality or did the entire world just turn around for NAC again??
You know, I have a lot of friends that were still working at NAC that I have been trying to help out the last couple of days; that I feel really bad about.
Then when I check this forum again, I get to see one of the stupidest posts I've seen on here in ages! You really just don't have a bloody clue about the real world, do you Mutt!!?? I assume you have no real world experience, and a trip anywhere other than Cat Lake is a big deal to you! Especially when you can try to impress us with the fact you've obviously been to the YQT airport and can read (I'll give you the benefit of the doubt). You think you're in on some scoop and want to impress the rest of us.
Unfortunately you've given no thought to the 150+ people at NAC that have had their world, career, finances, plans for the future go up in smoke in a span of a couple of days. These people are upset and worried about their future and how to feed their families, where they are going to have to uproot and move to etc!
You seem to think that with the bomb going off in the last couple of days and the shock these people are trying to deal with; they have nothing better to do than make sure an airport screen reads that the flights have been cancelled. Give your head a shake!
Then you have the audacity to wonder if the world has turned around for NAC somehow again. Why? Would people's jobs being saved be a bad thing? Sure NAC had some bad decisions made by management, but I believe honestly that the allegations against Wasaya in court are true. They illegally contributed to the demise of NAC and peoples futures. You think that NAC employees deserve to be unemployed due to this. God forbid that these people still might have jobs right.
I hope you like Cat Lake, because 45 pilots with Turbine/EFIS experience along with more experience overall just got dumped on the market ahead of you for all the jobs that you were dreaming off. Plus there is the sympathy factor when they apply. I am sure you will be stuck in YAC just a little longer because of that. Sometimes there is justice.

What a crock! Its called survival of the smartest. Your beliefs are misguided. It was proven in court remember?? It will be interesting to see how many NAC employees will be offered back their "futures" with that nasty Wasaya company. Is that legal??but I believe honestly that the allegations against Wasaya in court are true. They illegally contributed to the demise of NAC and peoples futures
