Problems in Calgary today? Looks like a lot of cancelled flights for some reason or another

I imagine it was a GONG show. Glad I wasn't working today!

Isn't it April anyways? I know we get snow at all times of the year in YYC but come on we shouldn't have to wake up to a ton of snow on the ground in april!

I found it interesting that Springbank was VFR while Calgary was still down to 1/8 in heavy snow.

Nothing unusual there, it happened a number of times during my 25 years at YBW although it was usually fog not snow.

Yea i've seen fog happen quite often. Same with YXD being VFR while YEG is down to mins in fog.

I havn't seen it happen with snow very often though.

And now after it was cleared up for several hours it's a blizzard outside again!

I love Alberta!

It took me about 30 minutes to do a taxi that usually takes 5 minutes. A 25 minute drive this morning took me over a hour and I made real good time. Coming home this evening, the snow belt was about a 25 mile circle with Calgary at the center. Wierd. Radio said 10 inches of heavy wet snow but I had 14 inches on my deck.

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Ironic you should say that. Canadian North landed one of it's 737s yesterday at CYXD because of the fog. I could see ERAA on the phone in seconds asking how dare you bring in a Boeing here!

that's what you get for using a 'paper' alternate... If you don't want to go there if you divert, then don't put it on the flight plan... drives me batty
