Talk about bad luck, 15 minutes from the airport and your engine fails.

I don't care where they're from. Good job for putting it down in one piece. Something tells me the Bonanza doesn't make a great glider.

Great job!!!
The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Knowing the Americans, I guess they are lucky for not being jailed after doing a great job flying but landing off an "entry airport" and clearing customs!
Guess the cops over there are a bit smarter than the ones in the Niagara region.

American Cops Diet off of doughnuts, not sure how smart they can be. Fish Doughnuts, now we're speaking about a potential case that they're smart. Okay, my american rant for the day.
Good Work ! Whats up with all of these crashes and emergencies lately, are people freaking out so much about fuel prices they fuel up appropriately to glide to the runway? ... Guess there are a few glitches in this method.

No bent metal, no one hurt.
I say good job!
But Soo College students could have landed inverted.
AND with ties still on because they wouldn't want to be rumbled.

Fortunatley never have experienced an engine failure, but when the shit really hits the fan...and you have to make a decision...would you pick a hwy to land on or a field. We are taught to pick fields in training...but when things arent going your way what would you do?
Good job guys.

Landing gear was down....sweet.
She’s built like a Steakhouse, but she handles like a Bistro.

There's a huge lesson in here. First off....kudos to the guys for getting it down safely, and with no bent metal.
The lesson? Oh yes........a highway makes a great landing strip! I did this exact thing many years ago on the Conestoga Parkway in Waterloo. We "teach" students to land in "fields", but when traffic permits....ROADS ROCK!!
Way to go guys!

As long as there are no overpass bridges or power lines across the highway they are excellent landing strips.a highway makes a great landing strip!
Of course you have to be careful about landing on traffic but that should not be to difficult to sort out.
Landing on a field is a real gamble unless you have been able to have a close look at it. For sure the highway will be as smooth as a runway.

Cat: looks like you haven't been North recently.Cat Driver wrote:For sure the highway will be as smooth as a runway.
These highways are much smoother than most runways up there....
PS: and you don't usually need to scare drunk skidooers off of them!
Re: Plane from Toronto college lands on New York interstate
What were they doing heading to VT?
Putting money into aviation is like wiping before you poop....it just don't make sense!

Nice job lads.
Looking at the picture it must have been a bit of a handful...Down the hill, through the trees, around the bend, up the hill.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm happy to have a college grad as my First Officer any day.
