It's a "Red Ex" - a derivative of the venerable
T-33 "Red Knight", after an unsuccessful performance,
viewed from a great altitude with significant
magnification.

...then shouldn't it be on a pedestal or something?
Re: Can you ID this airplane? (pic)
I have to disagree. To me it looks like a "Blue Interrogative" which I think was the original name for the Blue Angels. Funny story; the Blue Angel name came from an incident where a Naval Aviator passed gas during a candle light service for a fellow pilot the night after the Squadron Chili Cook-Off. His performance outside the church caused someone to suggest, "Hey, we should try those moves in the jets!"

Looks like a Murphy Renegade doing an imitation of an N3N.

Can't see the photo
Flying an aircraft and building a guitar are two things that are easy to do bad and difficult to do right

Renegade mono-float according to the filename on the Murphy website photo gallery.

Looks a tad like the N3N on a single float up in Pender Harbour. That's a neat machine to see in the air.

On the other hand...
The Red Knight was uniquely Canadian -- a solo military display. The trademark of the Red Knight was his brilliant red aircraft; first the T-33 “Silver Star"

Having a standard that pilots lose their licence after making a mistake despite doing no harm to aircraft or passengers means soon you needn't worry about a pilot surplus or pilots offering to fly for free. Where do you get your experience from?
