Radio Operators License
I've lost my radio operator's license, where can I go to get a new one?
Re: Radio Operators License
just contact industry canada. but i might not bother if you're already licensed. you aren't required to carry it, and you need it to get a ppl, so as long as you have a ppl you HAVE to already have a radio lic.
Re: Radio Operators License
Me again - just phone them toll free and they send you one - they know who you are....

Re: Radio Operators License
You do need a radio license. If you get ramped somewhere they could ask for it. But as mentioned above just call and ask for a new one; there isn't even a replacement fee.
Re: Radio Operators License
tiny, while its true you are required to hold a radio cert, you are not required to have it on you and therefore do not need to produce it if ramped.
but again you do not have to produce this doc, having a ppl or better is proof of having the radio lic.
i lost my lic holder a few years ago. cost me over $100 to replace my cpl/gpl/medical. when i wrote my first post i was thinking that replacing the rad lic was part of that cost, and since you dont need to carry it, might be an unnecessay expense. i didnt realize it was free to replace, either way suggesting that you shouldnt have it replaced replaced probably wasnt very smart though.401.03(1) No person shall act as a flight crew member or exercise the privileges of a flight crew permit, licence or rating or a foreign licence validation certificate unless

Re: Radio Operators License
Unless the rules have changed in the past 15 years, you do not require a radio licence to hold PPL.
Every student gets one as a matter of course before their solo but that doesn't make it manditory for the holding of a PPL.
The law says you need a radio operators licence to operate a radio. There was a time when alot of planes had no radios and a lot of pilots flow NORDO. NORDO operation of a plane are still done these days. I did it 6 months ago when ferrying a plane with broken radios.
Again this is 15 year old info I'm going off. If the rules have changed since let me know. I can't speak to whether it's a legal requirement of a CPL or ATPL. But I suspect that if you dig deep you will find that the radio licence is a requirement of a completely different government branch from TC and thus TC should never ask to see your radio licence on a ramp check and wont make it a part of the issue of any of their licences. This would also explain why they didn't make room for it in the new licences.

Industry Canada is NOT part of TC. which is the govt agency putting out the licences
Why not just get the paperwork? we know how important paperwork is.
I doubt your boss will be pleased to have his plane grounded on a ramp check wher you are missing radio licence.
By the time you argue the legalities, the damage will be done.

Re: Radio Operators License
Not sure if anybody cares, but you only need the Certificate
to transmit, not to just turn the radio on and listen.

Re: Radio Operators License
Radio licence and New Licence document-
1-radio licence is required with you when flying, if your a/c is radio equipped.you need this licence to legally operate radios for transmission/reception during a/c operation. NO IFS ANDS OR BUTS...( maybe that should be butts...)
2-Cut the radio licence neatly in half, plasticize the 2 pieces front to back, then have it sewn neatly onto the inside back cover of the licence.Sew top edge only,so as to be able to view info. on back side of licence and on back cover.

Not that it's a huge surprise, but flying into the USA, they want, periodically to see all sorts of things, like a radio license.

Re: Radio Operators License
Should have added this initially: Operators Certificates
Quote- In accordance with the Radio Communication Regulations, a person may operate radio apparatus in the aeronautical service only where the person holds a Restricted Operator Certificate with the Aeronautical qualification, issued by Industry Canada.
