2009/2010

Post by slowstream »

For me 2009 started out tough, 09 saw me losing my job, leaving me unemployed for more than half of 2009.

2009 also saw me landing not only a new job, but a dream job, one in which I can retire at.

Was 2009 a bad year or a good year? I know for many it was a tough year, many of us lost jobs and even spouses; we lost some good friends and we remember them fondly.

I hope 2010 is a safer year in the skies and that everyone makes it home, so we don't have to say goodbye too early.

For 2010, I hope and wish all of you in our aviation community a very prosper 2010, I hope those that need it find good jobs with reputable airlines and for you that already enjoy working for good airlines that you enjoy your time and your profession.

Happy New Year Everyone

Although I didn't loose my job in 2009, it saw me move from a primarily flying job to more of an office role. Thinking about purchasing a gun in 2010...

Hopefully more flying to be had in the new year for all.

2009 was my fourth year since retirement and it just gets better the longer I am retired.

Decided to finish my Cub project when I was unable to sell it and bit the bullet and have spent around $25,000 on materials to finish it this past month so now I am screwed I have to finish it or the wife will kick my ass out the door.

Haven't flown much even though I have an airplane to fly, maybe when spring comes I will do more.

The wife is getting tired of the winter rain here on the Island and is muttering about going to Hawaii for a couple of weeks so I guess that is what we will do.

Anyhow I hope all you young keeners have as sucessful a career flying as I had...... and remember when to say no.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no

After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Happy new year!!!!
Well 2010 is going to be a great year. I'm getting married, moving back to YYZ proper, and have a few fun trips planned this year.
No new years resolutions as I feel you don't need a turn of the clock to make a life change.

2009 was a pretty good year for me.

I got laid off, fell in love, got shacked up, started the last year of my degree and renewed my multi-IFR. I managed to get some good camping in too.

2010 should be OK. By the end of April, I should be finished with my B.A. that I started 20 years ago. After that, I have no idea what's in store, but I have a feeling it will be pretty cool.

I wish everyone in the Avcanada community all the best for 2010.

Me too, istp - I've still got four more years of school to do a master's degree starting in September, but I'll at least be fnished the undergrad part!

Sea Land Air Flight Centre started off in the proper way by having the one and only fixed wing movement at Boundary Bay so far this year.
Russell and a student did circuits in C FWAP.
The other movement was the traffic helicopter this morning.
I nearly went flying in the SportStar, but wasn't quick enough to make best use of the gap in the rain.

I did go flying yesterday in C FWAP taking off at 23:57z and landing at 00:18z this year :D

I hope everyone has a good year of enthusiastic flying... 'Didn't see many enthusiasts here at Boundary Bay today
:(
