Teenagers charged with stealing airport lights
Deputies charged five Granville County (NC) teenagers with stealing landing lights from the runway at the Vance-Granville Airport.
Investigators said they stole more than 15 lights and, in some cases, threw them at cars in Oxford.
Sheriff David Smith said local high schools helped in the investigation.
While no one was hurt, the missing lights could have caused serious problems for pilots landing at the airport.

you guys got it all wrong...
Leave the lights out. Give them one hour of flight instruction and after the hour is up point towards the direction of the airport, wish them luck, strap on your parachute and jump.
I garauntee they won't reoffend!

We have no effective screening methods to make sure pilots are sane.
