A pilot has died after a small plane crashed in Courtland in southwestern Ontario, provincial police say.
Ontario Provincial Police said the single-engine aircraft went down on the north side of Highway 3 at 146 Talbot St. in Courtland, just east of Tillsonburg, about 7:45 p.m. ET on Thursday.
Police do not know what caused the crash.
The identity of the pilot won't be provided until after family members have been notified, police said.
Transport Canada investigators have been dispatched to join provincial police collision and forensic units at the scene, police said.

COURTLAND, Ont. — Police have released the name of a 56-year-old man who died in the crash of a small plane Thursday.
The single-seater plane went down in the village of Courtland, Ont., just east of Tillsonburg.
John Hart of Norfolk died after the single-engine plane crashed between two houses along Highway 3.
The Transportation Safety Board and provincial police remain on the scene trying to determine what caused the crash.
Constable Kari Lee said earlier that there was no apparent damage caused to the homes nearest the crash site.
