Emergency crews are on the scene at the Ottawa International Airport after a plane slid off the runway this afternoon.
Marc Messier of Ottawa Fire Services says the plane was landing when it apparently slid off the runway.
The plane has been evacuated and the situation has become a precautionary measure, said Messier.
No other details were immediately available.

Does anyone know of any webcams or anything online at the Ottawa airport? There is a bit of an embankment at the end of 07 then some rocks/tress... I hope it didn't exit the runway at highspeed. It was raining pretty hard in spurts this hour in Ottawa

Just stopped by. Thankfully, it did not go over the hill at the threshold of 25. It is an ERJ145 Nose gear appears to be up; I couldn't get close enough.
Here is the early article:

I had just switched to tower when I heard "We're not going to make it." Tower: "We're sending the trucks"

Looks like an ERJ 145.
For the nose gear to collapse or dig in, it must have over ran the runway at a high speed. At least everyone is ok.

that is a long runway for that little jet to be travelling at a high rate of speed where I saw it stopped...I guess we'll hear more soon. I can't believe it is national news thoughsanjet wrote: For the nose gear to collapse or dig in, it must have over ran the runway at a high speed. At least everyone is ok.

With all due respect, that's a little immature to be stating that comment when you have no clue what you are talking about.ei ei owe wrote:That's what 2000hrs total time between both pilots and crap pay gets ya.

Word from those at the airport was a very long landing.
Re: Embraer Runway Excursion RNY 07 in Ottawa few moments ag
True, I don't know anything at all about that crew but I suppose I was generalizing the US feeder experience & renumeration. That, you have to agree with me on.sanjet wrote:With all due respect, that's a little immature to be stating that comment when you have no clue what you are talking about.

Westjet did it a little while ago too on the very same runway and they weren't the first.
