CYKF Notam around RIM / Blackberry

I just noticed last week a notam in CYKF's file for a restricted zone around Research in Motion (2nm). A pretty small zone really - I think it's 2nm up to 4,000 ft and if memory serves IFR is exempted.

I don't recall ever seeing that before last week. I just find it curious - why would they have a restricted airspace around them? Surely they are no more important than nuclear power plants, IBM, or any other significant enterprise.

I guess that would explain the restriction around Woodbine as well.

While we are on the topic..... anyone know why CYR 533 just to the south west of Kitchener is there? Was trying to look on maps and satellite views and connot see anything significant..

I don't have a map in front of me but if CYR 533 is the one in the YKF zone, it's due to a women's correctional facility.

Also being picky, technically no such thing as the Queen of England, hasn't been in centuries. It's the Queen of the United Kingdom. But yes, she's visiting as the Queen of Canada.
