C-FETB Pratt and Whitney's Boeing 720 officially retired . .

C-FETB The operational service life of the Boeing 720 came to an end on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at 7:14 p.m. East Standard Time when Pratt and Whitney Canada’s Boeing 720-023B engine test-bed C-FETB landed at it’s St.-Hubert, Quebec base after completing its last ever test-flight.

C-FETB first flew on January 14th 1961, served with American Airlines, followed by MEA - Middle East Airlines of Lebanon, and finally arrived in January 1986 with Pratt and Whitney Corporation of Canada.

Boy, that WINGS article must have been written by a commercial pilot. The spelling is below grade 9 level.

Another historic airframe flies into history.

Hopefully, given its significance, the last airworthy Boeing 720 in the World will have a more dignified end to its service life (like a museum) than what Honeywell did with their Boeing 720 in June 2008.

My Dad worked on ETB in the '60s.

Like Panama said, hopefully it is saved.

Thanks for posting this.

My love of flying started in this airplane. I was privileged to ride Jumpseat or first class in this bird, close to once a week. Now I sit and watch it retire.

What a ride.
