Yes. How many hours do you have? Have you flown either aircraft? Do you have time/money to show up, convert your license and knock on doors?magyar wrote:anyone know how to get a gig in africa flyin a caravan or 206?
Twenty years from now you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.

Show up in Maun and knock on doors, same as you would up north. Low-timers from all over head there every year.

Re: i am looking for advice:
Its already been said you have to go there to get the job they dont hire anyone who isnt there already. Best bet is Maun Botswana and Windhoek Namibia but expect to be there a few months before getting an offer. Also Sefofane one of the larger carriers isnt planning on hiring till 2012 now, that said there is alot of other 206/210/208 in the area. Best of luck this is the middle of the hiring season down there.

Survey flying is slightly different than flying 206's and 208's in East Africa... and I believe that is what the initial poster was interested in. Although SGL has some exciting locations, flying for them is not.

I beg to differ! There are exciting locations and I found the flying to be quite fulfilling. You get an awesome view, and you're hand flying the whole time at 400'AGL over all sorts of varying terrain, not to mention chasing goats and camels around as you buzz them.Just another canuck wrote:Although SGL has some exciting locations, flying for them is not.

PNG is a possible place if you want some adventure and caravan.
Truth is always hard to accept.
