I raise your Darwin award picture with...
THIS ONE!
I first saw it pined on an old fridge in a FBO in Arkansas and asked:
-Gear up landing !?
-No, bottom of a loop.

With that flap setting, maybe a gear up landing??
Re: Photo - low pass . . .
If that MIG is blowing up dust and grass coming out of a loop, I wonder if there are skid marks on the pilots shorts. If it were me, I would open the canopy soon after landing to release the smell.
The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

That's a hot looking Mig 17T - I've seen it afew times - it's owned by Will Ward who also has a Mig 21 - and why not!!! Yeah that was a tail strike after a loop - person who took the photo stated the people around him were running away while he stood and took the photo!!
Aircraft is based in Ann Arbor Michigan (N406DM) 1957 Mig 17T.
Happened at Harrison Airshow, Arkansas 1990.

Huummm .... if Ormond Hayden-Bailie were still alive, I'd say he had to be flying both aircraft.
Very interesting fellow. I met him at the Abbotsford Airshow about 1975 or so, and got sucked into helping a few other guillable guys polish the Sea Fury in prep for the airshow and static display.

I remember Hayden-Ballie coming into CYEG on Friday afternoons in 1972. If he was asked if he wanted to do a compass swing it was code for "the airport is yours do as you please", which meant numerous low passes and "semi-aerobatic manoeuvres" over the runways, taxiways and the ramp. The Old Fogducker wrote:Huummm .... if Ormond Hayden-Bailie were still alive, I'd say he had to be flying both aircraft.

I didn't know there was anyone here old enough to remember him. What a legendary character!Ormond Hayden-Bailie
Pity he never wrote a book. He was probably waiting for the statute of limitations to run out!

If you like low passes, here's a great video. Some of these have been around for a while, but still a great watch. Enjoy
