AF447 wreckage found!
http://www.sxminfo.com/04/04/2011/crash ... de-lavion/
Exact position has not been disclosed but it was near the last known position.
Many bodies were still intact.
They're still looking for the CVR and FDR.

Re: AF447 wreckage found!
That's good news and very impressive that they continued the search and were able to find the wreckage.
Hopefully it will help with some closure for the families to some degree and hopefully they can find the recorders and we can find out what happened finally.
Condolences again to the familes

Re: AF447 wreckage found!
Probably one of the eeriest air disasters of all time. "Air France447 missing, 3 hours overdue". That sent shivers down my spine when I first heard the news.
I hope they can determine what went wrong for the sake of the families involved.

The BEA (Bureau d’Enquêtes et d’Analyses pour la sécurité de l’aviation civile) is the French body responsible for technical investigations into civil aviation accidents or incidents and also acts in this capacity abroad.

Re: AF447 wreckage found!
In spite of the horror and eeriness of this extraordinary tragedy, this development is actually exciting. Investigators and industry representatives from AF and Airbus must be elated - not to mention other people all over the world following this accident.
We have to admire the tenacity and persistence of the French government keeping at it until a result is achieved. This already has been an expensive investigation and recovery, whose costs will increase dramatically because of the unusual location.
There are so many questions to which we all seek answers.
