I was delayed because they shut down the airport to allow them to come in. Apparently they had a fire on the #2 engine and shut it down. Took them a while because they had to dump fuel.

445 is out of calgary and then edmonton usually right?
and it's more often the fokker i think, although both aircraft do the route.
so i would assume it was the f-28.

A one engine inoperative landing with a 737 is performed with flap 15. You do the approach at Vref 15 plus 5 knots.

jetpilot,

when you say high speed...usually how high is it? and are you sure it is flap 5 on a single engine approach? i remember asking some wj pilots one time and i was told flap 15 for s/e approach....just curious..that's all

cheers :D

You are right. For a single engine approach, it is a flap 15 landing. The speed is a fair bit faster than say a flap 30 or 40 landing but it also depends on your weight. Generally the Vref speeds for a flap 30 or 40 landing are about 110 to 135knots for weights of 75 000 to 105 000lbs. Landing at flap 15 gives a Vref of between 119 to 150knots for weights of 75 000 to 115 000lbs (higher weights allowed for flap 15 because flap 30/40 have a limits of 108 000lbs).
