Lower than a SNAKE'S BELLY
I came across this link and thought I would post it. Some incredible photo's!
The vast majority of these photo's are of military aircraft, which bates the question .... where did these guys end up after there military career? ....... the airlines? Transport Canada or the FAA or the CAA? smaller charter airlines? Just wondering???
The Costa Concordia debacle is front and center in the news today. IF ..... he had not hit the reef .... I wonder how spectacular those pictures would have been. Life can be so cruel .....
On one hand ..... we condemn an act of stupidity. Then, on the other hand, we applaud a display of low flight. Perplexing!

Very cool pics!
And of course, if you read the captions, LOTS of those guys died by low flying. Coincidence?
I'm sure there are some very good pilots that can do that stuff safer than others, but I'm not one of them so I'll be happy being that low for the purposes of taking off and landing only.

If you want to go out and f*ck around in aircraft, follow this check list
1. Do i own the aircraft.
nope. stop here
2. If i where to crash, who would die.
Others. stop here
Me. Carry on
There is some planning that goes into low flying, and or flying under things. Don't believe that the pros did it on a whim.

I know a guy that did that and rolled a Twin Otter up into a ball because there was a girl standing there and a well known Canadian company lost a major contract.

No doubt. Low level mountain flying is standard practice/training for the Swiss Air Force:The Mole wrote:There is some planning that goes into low flying, and or flying under things. Don't believe that the pros did it on a whim.

The low level record can only ever be tied....never broken.

Check out the prop flex on the Spit in the early photos! Them things are pulling! Also, the P47 that made it home with the first "Q-tipped" props in history. Take that Panther Navajos!
Re: Lower than a SNAKE'S BELLY
I don't think it's a prop flex Doc. It may be the effect of camera's shutter while panning.
Note the "flex" on the P-47 two pictures up. They deflect the other way.
Or perhaps props spin in the opposite direction?
