Warren Buffet isn't so pessimistic about aviation....

Interesting.... Wonder if they will be for North American use?
There is obviously a very strong, forward looking rationale for this decision, but future operating expenses are only going to climb with fuel prices.
On a side note, doesn't BH already own FlightSafety? Now that, from what I have been told, is a cash cow.

Re: Warren Buffet isn't so pessimistic about aviation....
It's pretty much a standard Warren Buffet style move.
Find a venture that's got long term viability.
Maximize the long term returns.
There is no better time to get rock bottom prices and favourable terms than today.
If fleet renewal is appropriate, an investment today is a wise move.
What will be interesting is the ripple effect. With firm orders and the perception of stability, how will the industry adjust? With this large an order, will the resale value of the planes being replaced drive changes in the resale market?

He probably realizes that the economic polarization is bound to continue and even strengthen, therefore more of the ultra-rich will require private jet usage.
