Well it has finally started to happen, something alot of us out here were affraid was going to happen once they new CSin' owner bought the airplanes a few years ago. I guess they are his to do with what he wants but it will be hard to see them leave the Valley after 50 years.

Farewell old girl

It's the Philippine Mars that's going to the museum - the Hawaii Mars is staying. They're prepping the Philippine Mars to fly now, and it's about 1/2 painted in it's original US Navy paint scheme (navy blue).

It will be a sad day when the last one leaves Sproat. I grew up watching those aircraft from across the lake. You can't blame the owner, they have barely been used.

The airplane has been in storage for five years with the engines removed. There are a couple of posts on FB showing the stripping and repainting process. Here's all I can find on YouTube.

Sad to see them go but I am impressed that they cleaned her up, dressed her up and putting her somewhere where she can be admired for a long time.
