703 use of Actual Weights

Wondering what some operators are using for a "training program" in order to use Actual: Estimated weights.

Unfortunately there is no training program in Canada, Yet.

The only thing to due to fully comply is use the segmented weights.

I implemented this into our company, after many many phone calls/conversations with TC it was realized the only way is segmented. Which if you fly aroud the north, segmented is still lighter than what actuals would be.

I thought it was estimated weights that needed to have a course?

Actual weights was just throw them on a scale?

We got all of our usual customers actual weights and put them all in a spreadsheet. It has worked out much better for us as for the most part they were significantly under standard weights. New customers go on a scale.

Huh? Your average tourist is less than 187 lb? What do you fly, midgets (oops, height challenged people) or models. Most fly in fisherman I have had the priveldge to fly have carry on that weighs that much never mind the MacDonalds figures they model!

Best way I have seen to get pass. weight was a scale that was set up to weigh 5 or 6 people at a time. This not only avoided embarrassing folks, it gave you a dead accurate wt. ( this a/c will carry 1500#, split it up how you like !)

I'd like to just use segmented weights and be done with it. However, for A/C with 1-4 pax the chart says use actual or volunteered weights.Volunteered weights need a "training program" as well. We operate A/C with 3-9 pax seats. Best bet is just throw a weight scale in the back of each plane and use acutal.

It is based off the aircraft max pax capability. Not seating arrangement, there for an aircraft certified to 9 pax would be required to use the segmented chart for arrangements for up to 9
Pax.

I'm talkin about the actual airplane. We run a 182, 185, Found, beavers, and caravans. We have to use actual or volunteered weights in the 182, 185 and found since their max certified pax seating capacity is 1-4. Segmented can only be applied to the beaver and caravan...

What happens if you end up with a smashed up airplane and they weigh it and it is over the gross allowable for the certification, when you used segmented weights for the passengers?

Will the insurance pay the claim?

Too bad Operators are not mandated to have a quality assurance oversite. I still shake my head about that. There is nothing stopping operators from using actual weights
and restricting duty time below 14 hours? It is all about money. The more it is allowed the more lives will be lost.
