I was going to send him one myself, but I'm, y'know, too lazy.
Maybe I'll get around to it tomorrow....

Ha ha. Wow, if you wait long enough you get to see one of these guys really have to eat their words. That was great. I have met Frank on several occasions and he has always been friendly, but I thought his statement in the first interview was pretty cocky, and it amuses me, because I am a great lover of chaos, to see anyone have to backpedal like that. Especially because I believe that in charter aviation marketing means next to @#$!-all, and you get the business because you have the right plane, or nearly the right plane, and it doesn't happen to be already in the air and full of somebody else's cargo when a "customer" phones up and wants it. Frank can pretty near say whatever he feels like to whomever he wants and still come up smelling pretty good in the long run. He must have been some embarrassed to have felt compelled to issue such an all-encompassing and contrite apology. Ha ha. I love it.

Here's a pic. It showed up in Pickle Lake on Friday. Sorry about the quality, I took it with my ipod. Pretty sharp looking machine.

You obviously don't know or have not worked for Frank... Free advise, handle his property like you own it, like its the only one will ever get in your lifetime, because if you don't you will find yourself shit canned faster than you can say "I'm a pilot".

Frank looks after his equipment, he flies it too. If he thinks you aren't...

A simple yet effective concept for keeping the aircraft from becoming just another piece of crap in NWO.

I like Frank. I like DC3s. Just not enough to ever live in Pickle Lake or Nakina ever, ever again.

DAR Am I right to assume polar 5 was converted back to a simple BT-67 without all the scientific gear? What a shame if it was,,,,a lot of work went into that bird at Muskoka!! What is its replacement ?

Polar 5 and its sister ship Polar 6 are alive and very well, in their original science role.

PilotDAR wrote:Well jspifire, good catch! The original photographer did happily allow Basler to use a number of those photos for their promotion of the BT-67. The original photographer did not grant further permission to other organizations to use them - but, I suppose it happens...

The original photographer, who is not a professional photographer, just the guy doing all of the testing, is quite proud of those photos.... And these as well.....

And let me see.... A few others I (the original photographer of all of these) took of this marvelous aircraft....

And, of course, you've already seen this one...

I have many more, actually 3433 photos of Polar 5 over the years, according to "Properties" for that folder in my computer! So, what I might lack in photo credits, I more than make up for in quantity!
These are some excellent shots. Would love to shoot Polar 5 and 6 someday!
