With the thread on Maple I got to wondering if there is anyone else besides myself learned to fly or was associated with the original Brampton Flying Club when it was located at Queen and McLaughlin Rd --

By the Dixie Cup factory?
Nope I was just after, about the same time as driving rain.
I did start out in a cloth and wood aircraft though.

I did my private licence in July 1966 at the old Brampton Flying club as well as build up time. I started my commercial licence there as well but moved to Guelp Air Services 67 Ltd in the spring of 1968 due to the long wet spring and grass strip at Brampton.

BFC had to take the show on the road in the spring because of that dirt runway. I remember operating out of Guelph and Sky Charter on the north end of YYZ for a couple of springs also.
Used to say BFC planes were so dirty you had to wipe your feet when you got out of their planes.
When we operated out of Sky Charter there was of course long taxiing ....I heard a controller tell me at this Airport we taxi with our wheels on the ground.
