Re: TMA and MAT to merge
Very interesting. This will definetely be the largest twin otter fleet in the world. Can't wait to see what happens!!
Re: TMA and MAT to merge
I wouldn't think so. They are almost always short crews. I think you would see mass quiting, especially with India/Asia starting to ramp up.
Re: TMA and MAT to merge
Does this mean that ALL the training bonds are null and void????
Not sure about mass quitting....maybe from the expat side yes. Maldivian drivers don't want to leave the Maldives and won't. They should! But GREED is a funny thing. The guys won't make what they make anywhere else, the company formed a monopoly to make themselves even more money, those who sold their shares probably made out like bandits in the transaction to add to their already Millions....Its all about the all mighty buck.

Re: TMA and MAT to merge
I'm pretty sure bonds will be still binding. It is not a sell off, just a merger and an input of fresh cash. Luckily there is no corruption in the Maldives. I still think Lars will sell off his share, and TMA will figure out a way to screw Blackstone.

"The owner of TMA purchased 51% of MAT and now US based Blackstone Group has purchased the remaining 49%"
That is implying that the previous owner of MAT now owns 0%, which I believe to be inaccurate. Do you have a link for where you got that information?

Re: TMA and MAT to merge
Obviously it is inaccurate but that is what we were told and everyone believed until Blackstone issued a press release. If you read the Blackstone release they have the controlling interest so they must have more than 49%. Apparently the previous owner still has some interest.
Re: TMA and MAT to merge
Oh, ok, that makes sense. I was told that TMA and MAT had their majority shares bought by Blackstone, that's why I asked
