Strange/unusual PC-12 activity over Toronto
Hi everyone,
I was checking flightaware today (Oct 10th) and came across a PC-12 with callsign SST304 allegedly on the YXU-YKZ route. But I noticed it stayed NE of YYZ for a couple of hours just doing circles at around 8000'-10000'.
Anyone has any idea what this plane might have been doing / the owner?

Thanks guys

Re: Strange/unusual PC-12 activity over Toronto
My original thought was possible an RCMP aircraft doing high surveillance of a crime scene or something of the like, but the callsign is messing me up. A quick search of the Civil Aircraft Register doesn't show any PC-12's belonging to Sunwest. The mystery continues..

My money would be on the RC's doing some sort of covert thing, under an assumed call-sign..

OPP also operatess PC-12 with surveillance equipment.

This website says SST is the RCMP, callsign "Stetson".My original thought was possible an RCMP aircraft doing high surveillance of a crime scene or something of the like

I though "Stetson" was the callsign of an Oil Company out west ?
Maybe the Toronto Star hired it to monitor Rob Ford ?
Re: Strange/unusual PC-12 activity over Toronto
My guess? The Cessna buzzing Rob Ford's house was a bit too obvious. The cops needed something which could orbit more covertly.

Could be doing some trainig for new crew members

You can opt out of Flight Aware and your company's flights won't appear online for all to view. I'm surprised the police haven't in order to prevent counter-surveillance.
Re: Strange/unusual PC-12 activity over Toronto
I figured it could have been an official aircraft since I recall the RCMP and the OPP have PC-12s. Thanks for your answers everyone.

Noticed and heard it doing the same all weekend the other weekend (Caribanna weekend). And during G20

Believe it is C-GMPB RCMP PC-12 based London Ontario.

Dosen't really make any difference.....anyone listening on LiveATC.net would get a fair picture of where these guys are in the sky in relation to the calls we are making to them. You can opt out of Flight Aware and your company's flights won't appear online for all to view. I'm surprised the police haven't in order to prevent counter-surveillance.

All that Rob Ford stuff in the news the police documents mention surviellence using "the plane".
Straight over Crackton area NE of YYZ fits.
How many flight hours have been spent on this guy and his strange buddies? Thought he was supposed to be saving us money.
not
