A single-engine plane crash in a hayfield in central Alberta killed two passengers, a man and a boy, police said Thursday.
The two-seater Piper Comanche went down at about 6 p.m. Wednesday near Andrew, Alta., about 85 kilometres east of Edmonton.
The identities and ages of the dead had not yet been released.
The role of a thunderstorm at the time of the crash would be probed, a spokesman with the federal Transportation Safety Board said.
"One of the things we'll be looking at is the weather," Bill Kemp said. Records show the plane left Cooking Lake airport east of Edmonton at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Investigators had not released any communication between controllers on the ground and the plane. But they said it had crashed at high speed on a steep angle without evidence of fire or explosion.
The plane, built in 1956, was registered to B. Allison Flying Services based in Sherwood Park, Alta., records show.

It was indeed their Piper Cub. News is saying that they were doing aerial photography in the area and yes, the cell that passed around 2 was indeed a nasty one.
The wierdest feeling is that i saw them takeoff....
My most sincere condolences to friends and families involved.
