WestJet dings a winglet, borrows one from SouthWest
Our apologies to guests who were inconvenienced in Orlando after one of our winglets was damaged yesterday. Thanks to @southwestair for lending us one so we can get our guests home safely.

A quick repair for Westjet, some revenue (I would imagine) and free publicity for Southwest... and a spotter's wet dream! Win win win win for everyone!
Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?

At least they're both 'West'

Fair play in the industry! It is so nice to see that cooperation can exist. Both airlines demonstrate integrity, one to be confident in itself enough to call on the other for help, and the later for agreeing to do so. We'll done.

I imagine a winglet on a 737 cannot be MEL'd or CDL'd, such as other aircraft (747, A330, etc)?
Re: WestJet dings a winglet, borrows one from SouthWest
WestJet just sold (or traded) some of their 700's to Southwest for some of their 800's. Probably just took it off one of the birds going to WestJet.
"Here - take the winglet and you don't even have to send it back!"

Westjet sold the 10 700s to Southwest. The 10 800s are coming new from Boeing, they have nothing to do with Southwest.boeingboy wrote:WestJet just sold (or traded) some of their 700's to Southwest for some of their 800's. Probably just took it off one of the birds going to WestJet.

I'm pretty sure the -800s coming from Boeing were Southwest deliveries, WestJet had to aquire those slots from Southwest so yes, they do have something to do with Southwest.whiteguy wrote:Westjet sold the 10 700s to Southwest. Notice the complete lack of an explanation as to what happened to the jet in the first place? Nice job of the old "bait and switch" technique to PR.

This was a ground incident, pretty minor in the overall scheme of things. Some minimum wage lackey not doing his job.
So, where's the bait and what's the switch?

There's always someone out there with a conspiracy theory

I want to die like my grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming in terror like his passengers...
