I applied to Sunwing for the non-rated seasonal first officer posting, never heard a word from them, in fact I didn't even get an auto reply that my email was even opened.

10+ years experience 4000+ hours experience in management, leadership, multi-crew, command time, maintenance, turbine and more.

Like GH says its just a sham ad!

Job Description
HEre is an example of an ad which is wrong:
Helicopter Pilot, must have local flying knowledge of BC area and dealing with mountainous terrain and extreme weather conditions. Minimum 2000 hrs PIC, 500 hours long line and approved Mountain Course. Endorsed on AS350 / B407 / B205 / B212. Please note that due to the nature of the work you might work from Stewart, Smithers, Revelstoke, Blackfalds, Fort McMurray or any other remote location depending of the contract that you will be assign to.
Anyone see what is wrong with this ad........

How about this one ?
Flight Instructor Ratings
- General flight
Flight Engineer Specific Skills
- Monitor operation of engine and aircraft systems during flight
Pilot Specific Skills
- Fly fixed wing aircrafts or helicopters
Essential Skills
- Continuous learning
- Computer use

- Working with others
- Oral communication
- Writing
- Numeracy
- Document use
- Reading text
Type of Flying

Why does a crop duster need to have an flight instuctor rating ? Probably because the one who will get the job happens to have one. How about the flight engineer part ?

This country is a joke. This government is a joke. There are many many Canadian pilots without jobs and the government approves this crap? Shame on Canada. This is NOT a 1st world country...

Write a letter to your MP and Jason Kenny,
and let them know that the TFW program
is NOT being used for what it was intended
for, and instead is routinely, intentionally and
fraudulently abused by companies to lower
their costs.

Pilots are NOT "bottle washers" despite what
the National Post maintains. They are skilled
labour, and to increase their profit margins,
companies don't want to pay market rate, so
they bring in cheap foreign labour.

This is really pretty simple.

EDIT -- this will probably confuse people, but
I am not xenophobic. I might not be as much
of a fan of aliens and UFO's as say Paul Hellyer,
the architect of the current Canadian military,
but ...

Anyways. I have no problem with foreign pilots
(workers) in Canada. I have a BIG problem when
companies pay foreign workers LESS than Canadians
and take advantage of their inability to tell their
employer to "stuff it" when they are faced with
illegal or unsafe working conditions, because they
will lose their work visa - which is tied to a particular
employer - and have to leave the country.

See, foreign workers CANNOT move from company
to company like a Canadian worker can. This allows
unscrupulous companies to abuse their employees
who suffer under a form of indentured servitude.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indentured_servant

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.

I have seen this in other countries. This is not a
uniquely Canadian problem. Nor should we let it
become one.

The candidate must have minimum of 2000hrs of experience endorsed on HU500D and MD520N. Must have mountain flying experience with long line proficiency and moving diamond drills or similar operations.
So if I am Canadian and have 10,000 hours of rotary wing time with 12 different turbine endorsements but do not have both an HU500D and MD520N endorsements, I don't qualify but the TFW for whom this ad was custom written does. Right ?

Guys and Girls, if you do not speak up and defend your rights, no one else will and these TFW will get all your jobs. Get on your phones, get on your computers and fight back!

It could as well have said :

Will the Canadian Government finally have the guts to tell all these abusers of TFW in the aviation sector that they will no longer be allowed to hire any TFW and let the chips fall where they may.

There are very rare instances when TFW in the aviation sector are required. I propose that a panel of experts be consulted for the exceptional approval of TFW pilots in Canada. Someone with the required expertise has to be mandated to evaluate these demands for TFW. This free for all cannot continue.

Reminds me of some storys heard from st-hubert flight school, knew a couple studient there who moved out, and it's interesting cause I saw the application for FW on G's dropbox file. Mostly middle east studients and instructors with foreign applications, heard story of a foreign instructor working at 13$/hr about and being threatened to lose his job if he wouldn't do things boss wanted. I could probably get some guys to testify this. The hourly wage would be 13$/hr because the boss was such a good guy and gave him a job and filled FW application.

If people want to work in Canada they have to get the right paperwork for it. Foreign worker application seems to be one of the way to fasten the application, and from what I read it is all lies and misuse of foreign worker application.

It has to be done on all level from 702 and upper. I have done 3 seasons as a piston crop duster pilot in a specialized company who gave me a very good 40 hours training and last summer I couldn't find any job in Canada, 2000 hrs hours at that time and 150 hrs of turbine taildragger. When I see all of this foreign worker application for crop dusting  now changed of area for commuter ops. Still it's all wrong.

Experts controling instead of TC great idea, but who and how.

This might sound strange, but a foreign pilot
must NOT be tied to a particular company. If
he is, then the company can underpay him,
threaten him and abuse him and make him
work in unsafe conditions - because if he
quits, he gets the boot from Canada.

That's indentured servitude.

The solution is that if a foreign pilot gets
approval to work in Canada, it MUST be
transferable to ANY company in Canada,
so that he can tell his boss to stuff it and
move to another company when he is
abused.

Not strange at all Colonel.

It should be said though that some of these operations on the list rightfully can't get Canadian pilots to work for them. I'm not sure why those reasons don't seem to be looked into when they start applying for TFW.

I know this ain't PC and all, but doesn't it raise any eyebrows when the entire staff of an operation all come from the same country, or in some cases group of countries? Is it really believeable that not only could they not get Canadian workers, but also they couldn't get forgeign workers from anywhere else but a select few places on earth?
That's indentured servitude.
Not naming names, but I had a lot of applications a little while ago from some staff at a certain flight school. The people seemed really desperate to leave their current employ, the unfortunate part was that from being stuck in that puppy mill, they were really ill-qualified to work anywhere else. They just didn't seem to know how when I had talked to them. They were so used to operating under such a draconian system. Some offered to pay to work for me, others were under the impression that they would have to sign a bond. To fly a 172?!

Something rotten in the state of Denmark. :|

I worked at one flight school on the list that cant find an instructor (application was for a class 2 or higher and its a safe bet the request is to place a TFW as the CFI so the company can do as they wish)

When I worked there the school used the loop hole as a collage campus to hire and train foreign instructors to work for up to a year at the school without the need for a work visa.( YES that is allowed under Canadian Law and there are more than a few FTU's doing this)

Long story short= 4 Canadian payed instructors full time then 2 months later only 2 casual (4-6 hours a week) Canadian instructors and 3 full time Foreign instructors some working for free and some for $10 an hour.

So this BS to the TFW agency about we need some one able to teach/speak in Nigerian/Tibetan/Piglatin is total crap they are coming here to get a CANADIAN licence!!!!!!!

Just over two years ago I brought up the issue of foreign pilots taking jobs away from Canadians, I was assured it was a great thing a "win-win" was the term that kept coming up.

http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopi ... 54&t=80588

Fast forward a couple years this whole TFW system has spiralled out of control, and now you start resisting. Why didnt anyone speak up two years ago and nip it in the bud? You guys are going to have a really hard time succeeding in the future if you allow the Jason Kenneys, Steven Harpers, and Moose47 to think for you and assure you that alls well. How many times do you have to prove me right before you listen to me?

Actually it is being used EXACTLY as it was intended except the social media and independent media is exposing the abuse of the system and the government is being forced to react. Remember this ruling party does not benefit from an economically strong middle class. It does however benefit from a strong influential business class and an economically suppressed underclass. That is their base. And that is what the TFW program is breeding. You may think its a coincidence, Im a little more pessimistic.

Doubt it. This system is engineered and is working as they wanted it to. I dont think they could have a system break apart, fail miserably but the fallout working in their favour. No ones that lucky.

When it comes to manipulating people, they know exactly what theyre doing.

Someone took the huge .PDF file with all the 2013 LMO applications and made an index for it.

It's now here for all to see. Much easier to navigate now.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/105 ... 2May14.pdf

On every LMO aplication listed one can see the reasons or the rationale the employer put forward to hire a TFW instead of a Canadian pilot. These are a very interresting read that I encourage all to spend a little time on.

More inaccurate posts and lies from Gilles. Interviews are on going right now.
Like I've said before think for yourselves, don't believe everything this guy writes. His personal agenda will not allow him to post fair and truthful information.

I know at least 5 pilots who applied for Sunwing, +3000 hrs and a very experienced pilot interrested with seasonal work. Will be interresting to know the output. So far none of them heard nothing from Sunwing.

Maybe they should get a Euro licence and 737 training in Europe in order to get a job in Canada.

You know that Sunwing is running two recruitment ads in parallel. One is for seasonal Canadian pilots where type rating is not required. They will hire 40 to 50 such pilots, including those, if any come back, who were hired and trained seasonally last year and let go this spring. This is to satisfy the ESDC requirement that an employer must demonstrate that it has made a reasonable effort to hire and train Canadians before it can apply for TFW. So those who will be hired and trained will be part of that "reasonable effort".

Then the other ad, the one depicted above is for 120 type rated pilots. This is the ad, they post to pretend that they are attempting to hire qualified Canadians. The type rating is there to exclude Canadians and justify hiring 120 type rated TFW workers instead of Canadians. Although they let go some seasonal Canadian pilots that they had already trained last winter in order to save the expense of their salaries, and that they will wait until August to begin hiring and training their seasonal pilots, they will claim that they do not have the time nor the training resources to hire and train those 120 pilots and that it would not be "cost effective" to hire and train 120 Canadian pilots for what just constitutes "seasonal work".

If ESDC balks at approving those 120 TFW, Sunwing, which is already selling seats and packages on those aircraft that they plan to crew with TFW pilots next winter, will threaten to file bankruptcy and put the jobs of all its Canadian workers at risk if the TFW are not approved (not to mention all those poor Sunwing customers who will lose their hard earned money they paid to Sunwing for the privilege of flying South on TFW-crewed aircraft). Will ESDC blink again this year ? We will soon know.

In parallel to those 120 TFW, Sunwing will probably also apply to the CTA for about 6 foreign wet leases, which will come with about 85 foreign pilots.

So next winter, expect Sunwing to have again have over 200 foreign pilots flying B737NGs in Canada.

More lies and conjecture from Gilles to support his anti SW position. None of it is factual or based on any solid information. He doesn't work there, therefore everything he says is speculation and assumption. Even ALPA and Transat don't support him because of all his lies and misinformation passed off as fact. Because Gilles says something doesn't make it fact or TRUTH. Think...

Rather than a shotgun attack on Gilles's
character, could you instead dispute
what he states, with your own facts,
documenting their origin?

N.B. I have no dog in this fight.
