Stand by for the hysterical over reaction from the passengers who when interviewed " thought they were going to die !" and "could only think they may never see their baby again !"
Re: Interesting reason for a hard landing
Time to add an extra item to the landing checklist
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

That is a good image of a broken European low cost aviation, at it's best.
Just admit you screwed up!

Poor guy. Silly incident and I hope he doesn't let it bother him.
Re: Interesting reason for a hard landing
A friend of mine flies with Flybe, and apparently one of the more experienced captains he flies with has an artificial eye.
BTW, Flybe is one of the better European airlines.

900£ / month for FOs few years ago, maybe it is better now.
But yes, bad joke, not fun for the guy, it is not a good advertising for the captain, that is the price of transparency.

Re: Interesting reason for a hard landing
You can call it a Q, still a dash-8 landing
Re: Interesting reason for a hard landing
You have to hand it to the guy to keep on flying.

I have an uncle with a prosthetic lower arm (the original lost to a grenade). One of his favourite tricks would be to leave his fake hand gripped when shaking hands and pull the rest of his arm out.
Re: Interesting reason for a hard landing
After hundreds of hard landing in a Q400 ( the effing thing lands like a shopping cart ) I only wish I had an excuse as good as that!!!!!!!

Re: Interesting reason for a hard landing
I guess not all hands were on deck....
He knew firsthand that it's gonna be a hard landing...
He didn't have the upper hand in that situation...
The passengers were not in safe hands...
Hands down, he walked away from that incident.
I'm glad he didn't get blood on his hand....
I have to hand it to him for managing that landing...
He had his hand full...
On the other hand, this coulda been much worse...
This situation almost got outta hand...

I hope they let him fly the next leg...so the incident didn't cost him an arm and a leg
Flying an aircraft and building a guitar are two things that are easy to do bad and difficult to do right

C'mon guys, get a grip. No need to get all out of joint about it.
I'm going out on a limb here, being this guy must be quite a responsibly to shoulder. Hope nobody gets all up in arms about it.
He still hand flies better then Air Asiana.

Re: Interesting reason for a hard landing
You could even say he was........The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) report said the captain had disconnected the autopilot and was manually flying the aircraft.
Dammit. I had something for this.
