'normal speed approved'

a few times departing yvr departure will say 'radar identified, normal speed approved for the climb'

what does this mean?? we can go faster or slower?

In Canada the speed restriction of 250 knots below 10000 does not apply on departure, so I'm guessing they're just reminding you.

Vancouver 3 SID limits speed to 280kts below 7000ft.

The SID's for Vancouver have 165kts restrictions for turboprops to 4000ft. They usually cancel that on departure.

What's very interesting about that restriction on the Vancouver Sid ( or any other for that matter) is that the speed restriction is in effect whilst in Terminal airspace. (straight from the IFR Center Shift supervisor)
