Anyone else get one of these?
The good news is that I am guaranteed an invite to a session at some point in the future and get $200 off. Hooray! I was wondering if this is a widespread thing or not?
Good morning,
NAV CANADA is adding a new simulation test as part of the assessment testing for Air Traffic Control and Flight Service Specialist careers. Your name was selected as part of those who have successfully completed the on-line testing requirement. We are seeking individuals who are interested in these careers to pilot the simulation test called w-SIM. We are asking those selected to join us for 1 ½ hours at the ****** to pilot this new testing instrument.
What is involved?
You will be required to review a document “Preparing for the w-SIM” prior to the testing session in order to familiarize yourself with information related to the actual test. This document will only be sent once we have received your confirmation to attend. The test, which will be administered by the National Manager, Candidate Selection, will take approximately 1 hour to complete. You will be responsible for your own travel costs to the location. Refreshments will be provided.
Compensation:
Those that agree to participate will be provided with the following:
· A $200 voucher for an upcoming Assessment Session in your region
· A guaranteed invite to an upcoming session
· An exemption to the w-SIM during the assessment session.
Next Steps:
Please respond to me by October 23rd, 2010, indicating your full name and a telephone number where I may reach you if needed. Once I receive your confirmation of acceptance, I will be sending you the “Preparing for the w-SIM” document for your information and details of the session.
We appreciate the time and effort you have demonstrated in this selection process and I hope that you will be able to be part of this very important initiative. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Re: Anyone else get one of these?
I love how they roll out all these new "evaluation tools" withuot ever actually seeking any input from operations. Everytime I hear of the new selection test it seem less useful than the last. This is the first I have heard of a simulation test. Might be a good idea but I have my doubts. Very frustrating as a front line trainer to never know how they are selecting people to enter the programs.
