Avmax Group Inc. is looking for an Structures Engineer-AP (YYC or YVR) for its Engineering division.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Structures Engineer will be an integral member of the Avmax Engineering team working on a wide variety projects for both internal and external customers. The ideal candidate will meet the education and experience requirements to be eligible for nomination as an Authorized Person (AP) under our Transport Canada Design Approval Organization (DAO).

Duties & Responsibilities:
•Responsible for certification of structural modifications to Part 23/25/27/29 aircraft and their components.
•Make findings of compliance against structural certification standards within the Transport Canada scope of delegation.
•Designs alterations to aircraft structure, systems, equipment, and furnishings
•Analyzes structures (hand calculations, finite element, fatigue & damage tolerance)
•Reviews and approves design and engineering documents
•Conduct Engineering Conformity Inspections
•Witness Certification Testing
•Ensure all design and administrative paperwork related to project certification is maintained in accordance with the company DAPM and Engineering Procedures Manual.
•Liaise with Transport Canada and/or foreign CAA staff as required.
•Support other departments such as MRO, Avionics, Sales, and Customer Support.
•Mentor junior design/engineering staff to assist their knowledge and skills growth.
•Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Director of Engineering or Chief Authorized Person.

•Maintenance of the necessary knowledge and technical competency to act as a Transport Canada delegated AP within the Avmax DAO.
•Ability to communicate effectively and constructively with colleagues, regulators and customers.
•Ability to maintain a high level of productivity without sacrificing quality.
•Ability to demonstrate good judgment and decision making.
•Ability to identify, analyze, and solve technical and regulatory problems.
•Ability to project a professional appearance and demeanor in all interactions and represent the company in a positive light.
•Ability to manage project tasks in a logical and organized fashion with clear documentation.

Qualifications:
•Currently, or within the previous 12 months, hold a Transport Canada airworthiness delegation (AP within another company or DAR) and be eligible to be delegated as an structures Authorized Person within the Avmax DAO.
•Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or mechanical engineering (other qualifications may be accepted).
•Advanced job related degrees an asset.
•P. Eng or equivalent in a related engineering field preferred.
•Possess a strong knowledge of aircraft certification procedures.
•Possess a strong knowledge of aircraft structural systems.
•Familiar with part FAR 23, FAR 25, FAR 27 and FAR 29 aircraft.
•Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office suite, CAD software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks preferred) and FEMAP.
•Able to travel when necessary
•Must be able to effectively communicate in English (both written and verbal) and work well in a team environment.

Experience:
•Minimum 1 year experience as a Transport Canada delegated person.
•Minimum 7 years aircraft certification experience with responsibilities covering the design and certification of structural repairs and modifications.
•Minimum 10 years design and analysis experience in transport category aircraft structures.
•Experience in fuselage penetrations, interior alterations, flammability, structural integration of equipment.
•Proficient in engineering software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, FEMAP, etc.)
•Demonstrated capability and competency in field of expertise.
•Experience in aircraft maintenance or fabrication is an asset.
