Job Description:
Your Challenge

We are looking for a vibrant and dynamic Senior Instrumentation Technologist to support the NRC Aerospace Research Center. This person would be someone who shares our core values of impact, accountability, leadership, integrity and collaboration.

The incumbent will be specifically responsible for working closely with NRC team leaders, external clients and other research and technical staff within the Gas Turbine Laboratory team to support the operation and maintenance of the central facilities along with supporting specific projects that make use of these facilities. These facilities include high power air compressors and exhauster systems; air treatment systems, high pressure air distribution, engine test cells, etc.

He/She will be responsible for the design and implementation of new instrumentation and control systems as well as the preventive and corrective maintenance of the existing systems of the central facilities.

Additional responsibilities include providing the design, implementation and operation of data acquisition and measurement systems required to support research projects in the turbomachinery testing facilities. This includes the maintenance and repair of existing data acquisition systems and supporting software.

While mainly tasked in the duties above, the incumbent may also be assigned to similar duties in support of Facility operations or projects in other areas of the Gas Turbine Laboratory, as required.

NRC's main campus on Montreal Road offers free parking and easy access for runners, walkers and in-line skaters to break away during the day and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Most buildings have shower and locker facilities, in addition to an on-campus Fitness Centre. There are also areas for soccer, volleyball and even beach volleyball during the summer! There are ample picnic areas and easy access to a shopping centre, grocery store and pharmacy, as well as numerous restaurants.

Diploma from a post-secondary in an Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation Technology Program or related field.


•Extensive experience in installation, testing, troubleshooting and maintaining instrumentation devices for process monitoring, process control and safety applications;
•Significant experience in PLC and LabView® programming; and
•Significant experience in working in projects and /or maintenance in industrial scale facilities and/or large research facilities.

Condition of Employment

Secret (II). A Secret clearance must be obtained within 12 months of employment.

Language requirements


Salary: From $64,493 to $82,942 per annum. Salary rates currently under review.
